ICE vs EV, the debate thread
I like to look at monthly figures every month and annual figures every year. In particular, I’m interested in trends. The trend of vehicles sold tells me the overall state of the market. I don’t think anyone would argue 2024 sees the whole industry in trouble. Comparing YTD EV absolute sales numbers (say) to the same period last year would tell you that either EV demand has crashed, or that the entire auto market is in trouble. To decide which, you have to see what’s happening to ICE sales and market share gives the full picture. -

READ! Basic burger ingredients are not un healthy. You aren't modifying it unless you are adding un healthy ingredients. READ this again. I have been doing this for 50 years, and helped thousands. Have you? Everyone I have ever helped with advice on what to eat and not to eat has made progress. Lost fat, gained strength, helped rid themselves of diseases. This is because my advice is sound. I'm not telling people to eat cheeseburgers everyday. it was YOU that said how are these foods healthy. I told you, but you still don't understand. Try reading up on what makes a diet healthy. I've followed it all of my life, and don't have any health problems, so I'm guessing it works. -

Supercar convoy causes major delays on M6 motorway (video)
The "M6" is a stretch of new highway, elevated in some places, that follows the #2 highway for a ways, starting on the west side Pak Chong district. It splits away from the 2 at the East side of the Lumtakong reservoir and takes a more "northern" route to Korat. It connects to highway 204 on the West side of the city of Nakhon Ratchasima. I thought this was supposed to be some kind of "superhighway" when it was first announced but most of it just seems to be the same, lame, 2 lanes (each way) cement highway that will need extensive rebuilding every 3-4 years. Wasn't this highway connected to the Chinese (owned/operated/profited from for decades) high speed rail project ? -

I'm afraid I don't agree.Just look at the amateurish CVs of the lawyers/foreign partners on the web site.I have no doubt they could assist in relatively low level immigration matters and are definitely farang friendly.Essentially they represent a segment of the legal market - among many - for a certain type of foreigner.Personally I would not dream of employing a firm like this especially on tax matters where they have no expertise. -

Thanks for posting this video. To balance this out, see the video from around 1:01-1:07 , where the AITA tax adviser Thomas Carden discusses his views on the practical implementation of taxation on foreigners. Note with his firm( vs others that were created only in 2023 year and are currently very actively soliciting expats), is AITA have actual experience processing tax returns in Thailand AND dealing with the TRD. His opinions are: · the TRD does now know how / if they will implement taxation on foreign remittance, and thinks further change/delay is likely. · The TRD lacks the infrastructure to handle the complexity , and secondly there is no enforced requirement to register for a TIN. · The tax code they have, and the procedures in place, and is not sufficient to handle the complexity of actually processing these returns for foreign nationals. He cites 2 examples: 1. A case where a foreigner asked the TRD to tax them on his foreign income, he was told “leave, we don’t know how to do that” 2. Another case they have been working on, where a Thai resident sought to claim a low $ value DTA tax credit from when they worked in the US for a period. They have been working with the TRD on this for 15 months to get a single credit, and the TRD is still saying “ we cannot determine how to process this in our system”. Overlay these real-world examples with the theory of processing of 300,000 expat tax returns, and consider that. Food for thought. -

In the serious news outlets, it doesn't matter which party, if any, a journalist is registered to; they have a big beautiful wall between news and opinion. Those outlets also value facts over lies and they try to check things before they publish and if not true or if they cannot confirm the things, they do not publish them. -

Danish man stabs himself with medical knife in Bangkok hospital
A Danish man today wreaked havoc in a central Bangkok hospital, leaving police scrambling to contain the chaos. The bizarre incident unfolded at 4.45am, today, October 7, at Chulalongkorn Hospital in Pathumwan, Bangkok, when a 40 year old foreigner erupted into a frenzy in the emergency room. The man, clearly agitated, seized a medical knife and dashed towards Gate A2, making his way to the OPR building’s food zone. In a shocking turn, he slashed his arms and neck, causing severe injuries and significant blood loss. Quick-thinking police officers, stationed at Gate A1, promptly subdued him, allowing medical staff to deliver critical emergency care. This wasn’t the first time the troubled Dane had caused a stir. The night before, at 7.03pm, Thung Maha Mek Police Station officers reported a foreigner with a severe bleeding wound in Soi Suan Phlu 8, Sathorn. The man, they discovered, had injured his right thigh after clambering over and tumbling from a fence in a nearby village. Witnesses watched as he wandered from Soi Suan Phlu 8 to Soi Suan Phlu 6, refusing all attempts of assistance. Despite the arrival of an emergency vehicle, the determined Dane declined aid, choosing instead to head to Suan Phlu Market. A second emergency attempt to transport him to the hospital was again rebuffed. At around 10pm, a quick-thinking German passerby managed to engage the distressed man in conversation, ultimately persuading him to hop into a taxi bound for the hospital, KhaoSod. But the drama didn’t end there. By 12.19 am, police received frantic reports of cries for help emanating from the rear of the market, just opposite Soi Suan Phlu 8. There, officers found the same Danish national perilously climbing on a nearby rooftop.
