I have not seen enough diligence in respect to making sure there is no still water in many places around Thailand - so this is not a surprise.

Considering 100 mosquito eggs can hatch from something as small as a soft drink bottle cap containing water there's no way they will ever be stopped.

you make a point - it is a misconception that people are trying to eradicate the mosquito. Limit it maybe....but in the end they are trying to CONTROL the mosquito and if possible eradicate the virus. - Hence the GM programs

mosquitoes represent a significant and important bio-mass - if tyyou eradicated them, you'd leave a gaping hole in the eco-system.
