Any internet cafes around?

Featured Replies

With everyone using smart phone these days, the internet cafes are fading away in this city. I need to print off a couple documents and my printer in my apartment is not working. Went to two internet cafes near my place and they have closed up. Does anyone know of one in Central or North Pattaya... where I can print off something off my email?

Some of the photo places are equipped with multi purpose photocopier/printers and should be able to assist if your file is on a usb stick.

Another option is head to Tukcom on Pattaya Tai. You should find someone there to help you.

Final option, but more costly, would be a business centre at one of the upscale hotels.

Have used "Big Camera" 4th floor. I think, in Central, really professional.

I'll answer my own post. I forgot there is a small internet shop on soi 14 (I call it katoey bar soi), the soi off from Beach Rd south which is on the corner of Starbucks and the German restaurant. Got my documents printed off there today as I was walking to the Avenue Complex.

Also at the mailing and shipping shop on the ground floor at Big C Extra.

Talk about signs of the times. They used to have Internet PC's on the 2nd floor of Big C 2nd Road in the atrium. I haven't looked lately.

This thread got me thinking about whether you can still get floppy disks and how it cost me a fortune to set up 3 x 10GB hard drives on my PC when most mobile phones have as much capacity now... and how my first mobile phone cost me thousands of dollars with no sms and how good it felt to leave my pager at home... and how exciting it was to get my first touch button home telephone.

Now Internet Cafes are history.

There are still a few internet cafes around but invariably occupied by kids of all ages "gaming" instead of "interneting"

I was shopping in Central yesterday and noticed the Post Office service near the checkouts has an internet and printing service.

Internet cafe with printer on second road between soi 13and 13/1 (10baht/page) and one more just a block away at Lek hotel.

Also at the mailing and shipping shop on the ground floor at Big C Extra.

I used them once a while back. Very bad computers, very bad internet. Was barely able to get to my Hotmail email account. I haven't been there in over one year so I don't know how many internet shops have closed. I would like to believe that off of Soi Bukao right on Soi Lengkee that little shop is open. If not, over on Pattaya Klang there were several just north and south of the Soi Bukao entrance on either side of Klang. When I visit I don't drag my laptop along and I have a dumb old flip top phone with just voice and text as I am an anachronistic engineer.

klang has 1 on right side between 3rd and second, nirun has 2 or 3 shops does same and 1 more in soi arunothai but don't source em out bc I have my own so guessing many more besides.

Soi Buakhoa near Pattaya Klang still has Enjoy Internet there with full facilities including printing and scanning. 5 minutes on the net and I printed 2 documents, it cost only 20 baht. Good fast internet too.

yep.  spent much time in here.  Decent internet and price and I was staying just up the street.  Frankly when I go to LOS on holiday I don't bring my personal PC.  And I don't have wifi smart phone, just an old fashioned voice and text.  I don't need the internet for much except an occasional check in, so the cafes were always great options.  But given the cheap prices of computers, I might pick up some piece of trash notebook or something and use the hotel wifi. Although this little shop is entertaining as the night goes on as the ladies and what not go online or stop in

It's not all about farang tourists!

In the tourist devoid town I lived in I used the internet café that was popular with gamers. 10 baht an hour and saved the hassle of getting it at home.

Thanks for dragging up my 2-year-old post. Actually, my comments didn't have anything to do with Farang, and they weren't even specific to Thailand. The demise of Internet Cafes is a world wide phenomenon. I was merely reminiscing about days gone by when a push button telephone was a big deal LOL. Come to think about it, when I was a kid we were watching black & white TV's.

Now I wouldn't live anywhere where I couldn't have my own Internet service at home. I certainly wouldn't be spending time in a gaming cafe to save the hassle of getting it.

True. I doubt they have these in London any more:

There are still plenty around where there is a preponderance of Thais. Soi 14 and Soi Potisan near Naklua Road have them. Mostly used by teenage lads for gaming.

There is one off 2nd Road near Best supermarket at Klang, down an entrance to a small market, near Gin Tonic bar (sic).

I think there are still many here without smartphones or laptops. I still see people using payphones.

I see payphones are being ripped out everywhere.

Me too, but there is still a need for them, albeit much reduced.
