Chinese Liquor Suppliers Accused Of Putting Viagra In Booze
Food safety is a chronic problem in China
REUTERS

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese police are investigating if two distillers in the southwestern region of Guangxi added impotence treatment drug Viagra to their liquor in the latest food-safety scare in China.

The Liuzhou Food and Drug Administration said that it found the Guikun Alcohol Plant and the Deshun Alcohol Plant in Guangxi's Liuzhou city were putting Sildenafil, more commonly known as Viagra, into three of their baijiu products.

Baijiu is a fiery grain liquor that commands high prices in China.

Law enforcement officers have confiscated 5,357 bottles of the suspect products, 1,124 kg of raw alcohol and a batch of white powder labeled Sildenafil, in a case worth more than 700,000 yuan ($112,726), according to a statement posted by the Liuzhou Food and Drug Administration on its website on Saturday.

If they were doping the liquor secretly, the strategy would backfire a much as it would hook customers. Who wants to get a conspicuous erection when drinking with buddies?

Puts a new slant on the term "hard liquor".

In China the erection would be far from conspicuous - unless you had a magnifying glass!

Clever marketing, methinks. And more effective than rhino horn, etc.

You might have inadvertently solved the biggest question here.

Is this "fiery spirit" traditionally laced with rhino horn or tiger penis, a sort of ya dong, and they are just trying to maintain (or improve) efficacy?

If it saves rhinos or tigers....it's a good thing.

Better than sniffing rhino horn for the same reason. After Melanin contaminated milk, lead in paint of toys, faked eggs, rice made of PVC, I wouldn't be surprised if they sell LSD spiked Cola to students for a profit. If I had to chose what should vanish from this planet- Chinese or mosquitoes- I would live with an itchy bum for the rest of my life.

Huh, that's funny, isn't it? So you can find out who is gay...cheesy.gif

(but to be honest: you would not get any erection if there is no "animation", not even in yur head)

Viagra is not just for the woody crowd any more. It was "discovered" during the search for a new blood pressure medication, so the booze maker's claims about "health benefits" are not completely bogus. It is a bit dangerous, though.
Pulmonary hypertension

Viagra is now marketed under the name Revatio for this uncommon but serious disorder of high pressure in the blood vessels leading to the lungs.

Mountain sickness

Viagra can reduce pulmonary artery pressure at high altitude and improve the ability to exercise in low oxygen conditions.

Raynaud’s phenomenon

In affected individuals, exposure to the cold triggers spasm of the small arteries that supply blood to the fingers, toes, or both, which become pale, cold, and painful. Both Viagra and Levitra have been helpful in clinical trials.

Heart disease

Studies suggest Viagra might help patients with congestive heart failure or diastolic dysfunction.
