Eye doctor Chalong area

Featured Replies

I found an archived thread on this topic and just wondering if anyone can update as I have no idea how to restart an archived topic.

Missus has been having problems with her one eye and really need to get professional advice.

Thanks.

Almost all doctors work from hospital settings here, rather than having a clinic, but have no knowledge of who might be good. About the only exceptions for specialists would be those working at government hospitals moonlighting in a clinic setting for extra money - but would not take that option without good reference. She wants to see an ophthalmologist, which is a trained doctor.

Go see a GP first. Recommend Dr. Thitti very close to Chalong circle on the west side of Viset road. Opens at 08:30 am.

I would highly recommend Dr Thitti for getting a medical statement without examination. Not too sure if I would ever go to see him for a real illness....

I do. After one missed diagnosis and one mistreatment: never again.

Unless the eye problem is something like conjunctivitis or a stye (i.e. problems of the conjunctivae not real eye disease), she truly needs to see an opthalmologist. But if conunctivitis or stye then GP is fine.

Assuming actual eye disease:

If she is Thai she is eligible for free (or 30 baht) care at the government hospital and any hospital they refer her to. If they do not have an opthalmologist they will refer her to a mainland facility that does.

Wachira has an ophthalmologist, Dr Suthep who has a private clinic on Th. Mae Luang opposite the Amphur.

I like Dr Thiti. He is a nice guy. But I only go to Dr Thiti if I have an ache, a pain, a cold or stomach disorder, whatever. and not for anything that may possibly be serious. If you suspect your wife's concern is more than a minor problem take her to a hospital to see a real eye doctor. The government hospitals will be cheaper but all the hospitals, public and private, will have an ophthalmologist. At a government hospital (I would go to Mission) she qualifies, if Thai, for the 30 baht program. Private hospitals will charge you and be expensive.

Thanks for all replies. We did go to Dr Titthi who advised we go see an opthalmologist. Anyway off to Bangkok Phuket, lots of tests etc but all clear and only some drops required. 2,000 baht well spent for peace of mind.
