Good quality bread in Khon Kaen?

Featured Replies

Haven't been here long enough to know if i can a better standard bread than the nutritional poison sold at Makro, Big C, ect.

Essentially I'd like wholemeal, something like sold in Australia's Bakers Delight or Brumby's without preservatives.

Hopefully there's some European Artisans in KK?

Thanks

Alternative option buy your own bread machine. I know I did and its easy to clean and if your the only one eating the bread it will be enough for one or 2 days.

Before that i found the only good bread in villa market and foodland.

Possible options are the bakery in the Pullman Hotel (to the left hand side at the main entrance) or Yamazaki on the ground floor of Central close to Tops Market. Tops also has a limited range of breads.

Used to be able to get a decent loaf of wholemeal bread at the Chaimaha Bakery/Supermarket on the road towards Kalasin, where the soi to the old nightmarket turns off. Not sure if they still do it or if the Chaimaha is still going, but it used to have some interesting items in there and was independent. wink.png

Don't know whether it still works.

There is (was) a bar just on the corner opposite TukCom called "Tiki bar".

A German guy supplied quality bread and sausages/meat products in a regular interval (weekly on Friday?).

You have to order in advance.

My info is a bit vague because its long ago that I used the service.

In the meantime we have a similar supply in our district town.

Bread and sausages from German craftsman in the Udon Thani area.

So I suggest you go there and check yourself.

The Pullman has excellent bread always take some back to Pattaya when I visit

I agree with buying your own bread machine. I've had my own for about 8 year and love it. I think you can get one for about 3000 baht at a Robinsons Store. Don't pay more than that. Seen some at Central for about 7000 that are just overpriced!

Good luck. Plenty of recipes online for the bread machine--FREE.

We now buy our bread at Centara Hotel and Convention Centre Khon Kaen. By far the best bread available in Khon Kaen City, and starting at 1700 hours daily they offer 50% off on all their bread, which by the way is still very fresh. Yamazaki on the ground floor of Central is excellent for some types of bread such as French bread.

Ended up back at Yamazaki and bought an unsliced wholemeal loaf which they sliced to my preference size for 40 baht which actually wasn't to bad, 150 baht for half a German loaf at Tops just wasn't feasible.

You need to read the post correctly before commenting. He said in KHON KAEN NOT PATTAYA, which is 550ks North.

What is the name of the supplier of the above mentioned in Udon please?

The bakery at Pullman is quite good. I would recommend you go and order what you want the day before as they sell out quick and don't make the same thing every day.

As I just pick my orders nearby and do not go to Udon myself, I can now name just one of the sources:

I try to find our more suppliers.

Actually Big C do now have some pretty good bread, believe it or not.

Sour bread with olives or wall nut.

French village bread.
