Natthawut warned to stop inciting reds to oppose draft charter

BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt co-leader Natthawut Saikua was warned on Wednesday that he might have his bail revoked if he continues to incite red-shirt supporters to oppose the draft constitution.

Mr Seera Janjakha, a member of the National Reform Council, said Mr Natthawut, secretary-general of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, might have forgotten that he was freed on bail.

He warned that if the red-shirt co-leader did not stop his activities deemed an incitement of public opposition to the draft charter, he would ask the court to revoke the latter’s bail which would mean he would have to go back to jail.

Regarding Mr Suthep Thuagsuban, chairman of the Mass People for National Reform Foundation, who publicly voiced his support for the draft charter, Mr Seera said he would like to thank for Mr Suthep for his political standpoint.

As for the voting on the draft charter this coming Sunday, the NRC member said he had sounded out the opinions of many of his colleagues and was certain that up to 200 of them out of a total of 250 would vote for the draft.

Sums up the situation quite simply. Speak for the Constipation, receive free air-time and platitudes. Speak against, get threatened with jail.

He's being treated with kid gloves, I'm hoping this 'softly, softly' approach leads him to make some serious error of judgement which results in a big bowl of rice porridge.

Some people don't know when to shut up.

Who are you referring to,; Suthep, Abasit or Natthawut ? They as citizens have the right to engage in debate.

Ignore Seera. He just a NRC member and has no power to demand. Deputy PM Wissanu has given permission for all sides to hold conferences and aired their views on the draft charter. Amen.

And some people don't have the foggiest notion of how the absence of civil society or freedom of speech cripple a modern society.

EVERY high status opposition leader has been treated with attitude adjustment, which didn't really help....

don't place your hopes too high

Warn him about criticising the charter. So must also warn those that are for the charter to stop commenting

Its not a warning about criticizing the charter.

Its a warning about inciting real trouble because of they don't like the charter.

Anyone is welcome to say they don't like the charter. They aren't allowed to call people to arms over it.

Its 2 very different things.

Suthep and Jatuporn are another pair that don't seem to know when to be quiet.

Oddly enough of late, Thaksin seems to be very quiet on this subject.

He announced a press conference after NRC vote. Is that what you mean by "call people to arms" ? :)

So threaten one person who has an opposing viewpoint and thank another for having the same viewpoint even though o-fearless leader has forbidden everybody from exercising a viewpoint in public. How does that work? Oh yes, I remember now. "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely" (Lord Acton)

Yes, I hear Thaksin doesn't live in Thailand any more.

One is out on bail and has conditions imposed regarding that bail. The other isn't.

He was very lucky not to have his bail revoked before. He can't seem to help himself. Notice Jat the Hut is seeking permission before gobbing off. Dear old Arisman is keeping firmly mum, not surprising as missus's firm is allegedly involved in the rice scam export frauds,

Its true you are so right.

Try going into Times Square in New York and inviting the faithful to join ISIS.

Your sentimental idea that modern societies are all about free speech are ridiculous and chirlish.

Why can't you go into the public arena and try to convert people to accept having sex with children?, because its about protecting vulnerable elements of society from more dangerous elements.

ISIS/Paedophiles and anyone suggesting civil insurrection are all a danger to society and shouldn't be given a platform.

But then that's censorship - right there, a line is drawn. But who gets to decide on what's acceptable or not?

Surely your not suggesting its you which can tell the jumped up johnny foreigner what he's doing wrong? That wouldn't be so politically correct would it?

Yep - those who try to exercise their right of free speech in the UK find out very quickly they've got a quaint old fashioned notion, that's not tolerated anymore.

Nat and Jat would be in prison, or at least having their trial/appeals progressed in a normal country.

yes but what you really mean is that one is a cat's paw of the establishment, the other is from the disenfranchised majority

Sorry, didn't know things were that bad in the UK! Now I see why so many Brits are living in Thailand and are staunch defenders of the junta.

I add; did natawut, jatuporn, arisman etc., stand up on the previous red stages and provide logical detailed discussion, did they outline specific long-term policies to build a balanced and fair civil society for all Thais? NO, NO, and NO. Not one word.

They did stand up on stage and scream very nasty hate messages over and over again, they play doctored tapes again and again, they threatened to burn down Bangkok (with their absconded convicted criminal leader backing them up with messages from abroad). And their ilk later publicized the addresses and phone numbers of judges etc.

Beware.

Beware.

Reasoned argument is not in their skill set.

"give us what we want or we'll fight to the death for it' is the only logic.

An its plain for all to see. Its not democracy they want just a change in leadership and a return to cronyism.

So would Suthep most of these elites out on appeal or bail, half the Thai military brass, probably the entire police force and whole host of others .

Your point exactly is ?
