I hear the vegeterian festival is around that period where they pierce their faces.

On the other thread i read patong is totally dead so what's a tourist to do? Are taxi fares expensive? Seems like the attractions are all over the place. Phuket town at the centre, patong at the other corner, bangla rd the other side etc.

motobike for 150 a day , buses and taxis aroud the island are expensive ,slow and confusing unless you know the routes the thais are gonna trick you.

patong has fun nightlife all year round you can drink red whisky for 10 baht with free green mangos on the side and watch the girls.

chang club is good for a game of pool , go there at 4 or 5 in the morning for good music and thai beauties.

So can you rent a bike even if you don't have a bike license? TIT right so shouldn't be a problem?

Is it still 500bht from the airport to anywhere in phuket?

I was there in 2011 to see the vegeterian festival and i missed it and ppl were mean looking.

ive seen the vegetarian festival its pretty awsome and there was hardly and farangs so you you get a bit of attention which is fun.

i get the mini bus to my hotel in patong from the airport 180 dropped at the door they stop you at a travel agent to sell you a tour but i just stay in mini bus and ignore.

unsure 500 to anywhere from HKT but possible.

Hi so the price has increased pass 500?

That was in 2011 btw the last time i visited phuket. I thought 500 was expensive especially if you compare prices to the rest of thailand including bkk.

I like the bus suggestion.

On a rainy day spend your time and money in Central. Buy some brand cloth with 70% discount. Have a steak and salat buffet at Sizzlers. Watch the newest movie in the VIP cinema. Enjoy a good glass of wine and some antipasta at Wine Connection..... many relaxing ways to have fun in the green season.

I can do that in bkk too.

Sounds like a scene from some Suburban Hell. Hanging out at the mall?

Hey. you might want to get your nails done, while you're there.

Set up camp at your favourite beach-side bar and restaurant. Bring a book and a lap-top. Watch the squalls as they go by and enjoy the dramatic landscape.

Special suggestion for you, go have a swim at Maikhaw Beach in Oktober. This experience you can't find in bkk. And if you want to top it do your swim in Phang Nga.

Patong isn't totally dead, it's just in comparison to recent years. It appears you're from Bangkok and reports are that Cowboy and Nana are dead so use that as a comparison.

What else? Surfing at Kata, wake-boarding in Kathu, zip-lining, Sunday brunch at a nice hotel or beach club, Big Buddha (you can hike up there from Karon or Kata), viewpoints, plenty of decent restaurants. Have a look at Jamie's Phuket Blog for more ideas.

the moto rental is fine for farang but requires passport drposit and d/l from home.

take photos of bike before riding in front of the lender for proof.

watchout for big trucks and aggressive russians on the roads.

Way past 500 baht. More like 800 baht to Patong with airport taxi, meter taxi a very little bit cheaper. If on budget then take a shared minibus about 180 baht.

A d/l is never asked by the lender. No need as the driver pays for everthing. That's why they insist on keeping the passport.

How about a day at one of the Phuket driving ranges....buy a box of balls and a few beers doesn't matter if you are good or not. Fun day out.

A day at one of the fishing lakes....some thai food and some beers by the lake...cheap and fun with local people

The waterfalls are all flowing in October....worth a visit and can be combined with a trip to the gibbon sanctuary

A trip to Koh Yao Yai or Noi....get a long tail or the speed boat ferry and rent some bicycles

A day out in Phuket town...some of the coffee shops, the friday walking market then a night in some of the local bars

Lots to do

Don't leave your passport with anyone, if you leave your passport as deposit you leave yourself open to possible corruption!
