Thailand's chance to boost its place in the world today

He will probably start by telling the world's leaders that he will not accept foreigners comments on Thailand, as they don't know Thailand, so nobody should bother asking him questions afterwards.

Then he will proudly present the biggest result since the take-over: lowering of the price of lottery tickets.

He will finish by noting that Thailand naturally expects to become member of the UN Security Council as well as of course overturn the obvious wrong decision of not including Thailand to the UN Human Right Council given the country's excellent performance record of slaves in the fishing industry, extermination camps of trafficked people and stellar policing work.

Whatever happens in NY the reality will never be reported to the Thai public. It will be the usual bullshit about how well the Generals speech went down and how the rest of the world thinks he and his mates are doing a wonderful job and how the West now 'understands' what is being done to keep Thailand great. Indeed; i bet the return speech and media release's have already been written !

Yeah! And it probably goes along the lines, '...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas'.

Internationally, the country has an excellent track record on international peace-keeping and a horrible record at domestic peace-keeping.

True, but who is paying for it ? The Thai government isnt going to spend 1 billion baht on international peacekeeping in Dark Africa.

It'll come out of the US military aid budget or maybe the UN will check bin. In other words, the western taxpayer will foot the bill not Thailand.

Looking after people domestically costs very little. Throw them some dirty 3 y/old Yingluck pledge rice daily and some drinking water. Cheap.

Maybe they will send them some whitening cream.
