Lunch At Phayao

Featured Replies

Decided to eat while looking at water yesterday so drove down to Phayao.

We settled for the So Good Restaurant, you turn off the main highway to the town and it's a few hundred meters on your right, hard to miss as it 's next door to a new lakefront Condo building.

It was reasonable busy but we ordered up a selection of dishes and the service was prompt.

I liked them arriving separately, a new dish arriving on completion of the earlier.

The sea food tom yam was different, arriving in a green coconut... thick, packed with seafood and tasty rather than hot.

Then a whole fried fish, what I used to call Issan style; split, crumbed and deep fried, the flesh sealed within was succulent and tasty, the best tilapia I've had.

We then both had pad thai, I'm not a huge fan normally but these were very nice, on the warm side but most enjoyable.

My companion had over ordered as usual but the final dish was mussels in chilli... and more chilli, a suitable finale.

About 1000B all up but not bad value considering the fish and seafood we ate.

I do like the food but is it a little expensive for Phayao. The last time we ate there for lunch we were required to pay for our beer before 1400. We could keep drinking if we ordered and paid for it before 1400. This was in June. Other restaurants in Phayao do not do this.

As I've said about Chiang Rai restaurants, it's nice to have more expensive places around even if you don't use them every time you eat out.
