If you would like to report to Thai Immigration via registered mail, you will need to send the following required documents:

  • Copy of all passport pages (up to the latest arrival stamp in the Kingdom or latest visa stamp)
  • Copy of arrival/departure card TM. 6 (front and back)
  • Previous notifications of staying over 90 days (if any)
  • Completely filled in and signed notification form TM. 47
  • Envelope with 5 Baht stamp affixed and return address of foreigner for the officer in charge to send back the lower part of form TM. 47 after having received the notification. This part must be kept for reference and for future notifications of staying over 90 days.

You must then send these documents to this address, keeping in mind that they should arrive 7 days before your 90-day period expires:

I have used mail in the past but I find it more convenient to stop by the Immigration office in town these days. They just scan the barcode and print out a new form before stapling it in your passport. No forms to fill out and no waiting in line at the postoffice. Don’t know about you but I like to go to town anyway a couple time each week, so driving past the office is no real inconvenience.

I'm in Chiang Khong District, of Chiang Rai Province.

Yet my reporting station is in Chiang Saen District (~70km drive) so I do 90-Day reports by mail, but they have me mail it to them in Chiang Saen, not Bangkok.

I noticed in the Chiang Mai forum that some members there had a mix of responses when asking about or trying to use the 90-day reporting option with their local immigration offices.

It is also my understanding is that one must mail to your local immigration office, not the main office in Bangkok. One of the main problems comes from people forgetting the self-addressed stamped envelope.

It is easier to do a 90 day report in Chiang Rai than it is to buy a stamp in Chiang Rai.

As VF says, no effort at all required to do it in person.

I am in Phayao and never do 90 day report by mail. It is an easy drive to Chiang Rai with 5 minutes at the Immigration office. We then we do some shopping and have some lunch. i makes an enjoyable day.
