webfact Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Analyst's attack sparks security demands in Bang RakThe NationBANGKOK: -- Bangkok's Bang Rak residents Monday called for tighter police security following the July 25 robbery in which financial analyst Saritaporn Santimethaneedol, 30, eldest daughter of former deputy minister Sarit Santimethaneedol, was seriously injured when walking along Rama 4 road at 4pm.Silom-based restaurant owner Maitree Chaikaew said he was shaken by this news and he himself had seen a person being mugged once on Rama 4 footpath. He said police should patrol the area more often at night. Masseuse Prapai Darayon said she wasn't surprised by the news as she often heard about people getting mugged in the area and was careful when walking around. She urged police to patrol the area more often and install more lights so people would feel safer.Police issued an arrest warrant on August 13 for a Thai male suspect aged 25-30 and offered a Bt20,000 cash reward for anyone who could provide information leading to his arrest. kkerry Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I sure hope the police responded quicker than the time it took for the residents to call for better security. Better lighting would not have done much to prevent a mugging at 4pm. The people in that area also better hope all the additional security cameras actually work.
worgeordie Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 You would have to wake them if you wanted any help, the night time is for sleeping. regards worgeordie
trogers Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Only need to compile a list with photos of drug addicts and gamblers for each district of Bangkok to zero in on likely suspects.
Praematura Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Violent crime and drug abuse are going to steadily increase in line with a deterioration economy. The income inequality is massive here.
docshock13 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Was surprised this even made the news and even more surprised that there is a reward being offered. Then I re-read the article and it all became clear. The victim is the daughter of an "influential" person. I certainly am not condoning the assault and hope that both the victim is alright and the perpetrator is caught. But, it boggles the mind that RTP have a budget to reconstruct the Chuwong death crash but not to provide crime scene photos in the KT case. As it has been said many times before: there are two justice systems in Thailand.
NeverSure Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Violent crime and drug abuse are going to steadily increase in line with a deterioration economy. The income inequality is massive here. ^^^ Nutso thinking. Honest people don't steal or get violent no matter how poor they are. Some of the biggest thieves are rich.

ratcatcher Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 You would have to wake them if you wanted any help, the night time is for sleeping. regards worgeordie I agree that night time is for sleeping, although Thais can sleep anywhere, anytime. However, in this case 4pm can hardly be considered night time as it is broad daylight and the start of the so-called rush hours.
Baerboxer Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 A connected lady is injured and a 20k reward. So the police think about doing something now. Otherwise, hard luck, your're on your own.
FangFerang Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 If she wasn't the daughter of an influential man there would be no launched investigation, no manhunt, and no reward offered. Amazing Thailand.
Searat7 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I would love to know where all the police are hiding...in Silom I see traffic police only....no sidewalk patrols. Yesterday I was in Sukhumvit.....walked by a pharmacy on Sukhumvit Rd and saw 2 policemen sitting there chatting with pharmacist....walked by again 30 minutes later they were still sitting there.
