Rain-making operations to be stepped up and extended

BANGKOK: -- Rain-making operations will be escalated and extended from mid-October until November or until the weather is not suitable for rain-making to replenish water stored in dams and reservoirs.

At the order of Agriculture Minister Chatchai Sarikalya, Mr Lersak Riewtrakulpaibul, acting chief of the Royal Rain-making and Agricultural Aviation Department, said the department had decided to adjust its rain-making plan by extending the operations beyond the October 15 deadline until November or until it is not possible to seed clouds.

Rain-making units are currently based in Chiang Mai, Tak, Phitsanuloke, Nakhon Sawan, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani, Rayong and Prachuab Khiri Khan.

Mr Lersak said that more rain-making flights will be conducted and expanded so that there would be rain covering widespread areas, especially above dams and reservoirs.

However, he said that areas already affected by flood would be spared the rain-making operations.

Since last week, an average of 7 million cubic metres of water flowed into Pasak Cholasit each day: 6 million cubic metres/day into Kwae Noi Damrung Daen; 13 million cubic metres/day into Bhumibol dam and 29 million cubic metres/day into Sirikit dam.

"However, he said that areas already affected by flood would be spared the rain-making operations."

How thoughtful of them. How stupid is anyone who believes this crap?

On the same page in the news: "Brace for floods"...... "Rain making operations to be stepped up".... LOL

Many nations have tried and rejected cloud seeding as ineffective but you

can always count on Thai authorities to bet on a 3 legged horse !If they

didn't,( expletive deleted by poster ), away all this money on sure to

fail projects it might do some good elsewhere.

"or until the weather is not suitable for rain-making:

Such as, when it rains naturally?

Rain-making operations to be stepped up and extended

Hello again,..... it is rainy season !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!clap2.gifclap2.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Cloud seeding (rainmaking) is a face-saving waste of public money, as others have already identified.

But, alas, it has been ordered, so it must be done!

Who wants rain ?? take 50% of ours in Udon Thani .

Why not use irrigation canals from wet areas to dry ?? we have canals all over UK water to be taken where ever needed. When TF will Thai water management learn.

Floods everywhere and rain making in operation-------idiots.

Couple of reservoirs in the wet areas, couple of sturdy pumps, some odd 300 km of piping and Bob's your uncle.

But nooooo, that sounds too much like a plan that might work. adon't understand Thai, Dutch engineer go home now!

Better ask nephew with aeroplane.... at least some kickback will come!

WOW !!!!!!! so were is the data that this even kinda works ? I once asked the ? how do you get a group of people to all kill themselves at the same time ? I do not ask this silly ? anymore.

They should be embarrassed by this.....it's just one step short of "mumbo-jumbo"

Very successful in Ban Dung 80 km north-east of Udon, plenty of water.

They should be embarrassed by this.....it's just one step short of "mumbo-jumbo"

You should be embarrassed by your own mumbo-jumbo as a result of your lack of knowledge.
