What does the Big C Card do?

Featured Replies

I guess they don't want to make it too easy. That way they can say they give discounts without really giving them.

That could well be. When I first got their card a long time ago, I don't think anyone at the store ever told me what exactly it would do, or how it worked.

I guess I just figured it would make me eligible for getting sale prices when they're having a sale -- which is the way the Tops card works. No card, no sale price at Tops. But no, that's not the way Villa's card works at all.

Through all the ensuing time, never gotten an email, msg or postal mail advertisement at home from Villa. And I think, it was a long time before one day, one of the clerks at the store finally asked me if I wanted a 100 baht discount that day, and then I finally was told how their card system works.

oH gosh ,its written in Thai , in Thailand of all places , disgusting , i just give it to the wife to read .biggrin.png

We don't all have Thai wives to translate it. If you spend quite a bit the printout can be very long with 10 or more discount vouchers

If you are interested in knowing what they are, there is one customer service guy who speaks English fairly well, and if asked, he will translate all the vouchers for you.

I just use the discount vouchers and throw the rest away. I often wonder how many good deals I've discarded.

You must be referring to the "1 CARD". It's very useful in many different stores. You can trade points for discounts in Power Buy too. You'll also get a bunch of discount vouchers and cash vouchers sent to your postal address once a year. How much you get will depend on your point balance.

I actually understand most of them ,they are for svensons ice cream and KFC,I usually bin them as well

Also you will receive SMS offers monthly if you have registered your phone , buy food for 800 and get 60 baht off your next purchase or buy for 1200 and get 100 baht off next time (min purchase 300 baht),

Or not. Since i don't have a permanent address. : (

what does the card do, it allows big c to build a database of everything you purchase.

I doubt that. What would that achieve? I've never had any specific offers relating to my personal shopping profile.

It will be a Thai style database.

Somewhere there is a filing cabinet with your card number on it and duplicate copies of all your receipts.

LOL. I thought of that when visiting the cop station today. They had mountains of receipt books piled up about 1.5 m high and 5 m wide behind the counter. At least it provides for extra jobs.

Yes and no... Tops made a change on that in the past few months... They used to have a Tops Spot Rewards card that was different than their parent company's 1 Card. Then lately, they've done away with the Spot Rewards card entirely and consolidated the Tops portion into the 1 Card.

Now that I think about it, since that happened, I haven't gotten any of the normal Tops coupon sheets and cash voucher sheets in the postal mail. But I am getting periodic SMS messages from them, entirely in Thai language, that my wife tells me are various buy so much and get so much discount offers -- ones that I've yet to use, in part because having an SMS isn't quite the same thing as a paper coupon you can keep in your wallet.

It's one of life's great mysteries , there is a degree course at one of the Bangkok universities , if you really feel the need to find out more.

I had one - just binned it

My girlfriend graduated from university; I handed her the Big C coupons, but, basically, she didn't understand them, or, at least, couldn't explain to me what discounts were offered for what kind of products...
