Of course. authorities are monitoring this board, just as they are monitoring all other Thailand related online forums ... and they're not only monitoring the visa forum - numerous proxies were blocked within an hour after some fool posted a link down in the IT-subforum.

Okay enough with the hysteria. The implication by some is that the Thai Immigration authorities are monitoring ThaiVisa.com so therefore be careful what you say or this and that particular visa strategy will be shutdown.

Lets take a minute and examine this theory.

What other statistical/intelligence gathering methods does Thai Immigration have at their disposal?

A computerized database of Visa records. Hmm. So at any given time they know how many VOA's, TV's, Non Imm etc's are being issued and and by what consulate, point of entry etc. There is a lot information that could be mined from such a database.

A network of Immigration Officials and employees who are reporting operational details and making reports. Consul generals, Immigration police, HR administrators, etc etc. Add to that the regular police, tourist police, and other public sector officials and employees.

I would guess they know about ThaiVisa and have occasionally visited it but when they have the ability to query relational databases and generate reports of aggregate numbers and trends then please tell me why they would care about some anecdotal reports on ThaiVisa. Surely if I was trying to make accurate decisions based on real numbers I would stick to how many Visa's are being issued, What type of Visa, where are they being issued and to who are they being issued. Then I would listen to the organization. What are the consulates and border points reporting. Why bother with Thai.Visa.com???

So my recommendation is steer clear of the paranoia and continue to post visa trip reports and share information so that others who wish to be informed can make good decisions.

quite funny really because i had a look around their web site and they have a web forum......several times the immi pople posting there have recomended other posters look on thai visa when they don't have the answer. http://www.immigration.go.th/forum/index.php?board=8.0

Lordy, It goes waaaay past "quite funny" and into the realm of falling down omg/<deleted> kind of laughter:

Q: Permanent Residency for foreigners?

A: Maybe It will be more difficault. I can give you to check on the website: www.thaivisa.com or www.mfa.go.th You will know more about Thai Visa type.

Q: How many times i can renew a 90 day non immigrant visa?

A: You can check on the website www.thaivisa.com for your visa type. If you don't clear any point, pls let us know more.

Q: Application of Visa not in person?

A: You go to check the detail in http://www.mfa.go.th/web/12.php or

www.thaivisa.com

and the absolute best one:

Q: I hold a non imm. visa (surporting wife and child). I have two questions.

A: I would like to help you but I don't know about marriage visa. Could you check on website www.thaivisa.com ? Take care.

just to clarify the above....

I luv youse guys at Immigration.... You have a difficult time and I empathize with you entirely.

Chok dee na khrap

okay so Immigration folks definitely know about ThaiVisa but evidently they don't read it because they can't answer basic questions most of us who read the site know without any problem.

To be fair that forum is pretty old. The last post was Sept 2005. I guess it was an experiment that never got off the ground.

Does anybody else have this message at the bottom of the linked page?

"Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is using an ILLEGAL copy of SMF!"

I agree it is pretty old but you must admit its funny, "ask your questions here and we'll direct you to a farang web site where you'll be able to get a better picture of our immi law, sorry i couldn't help you"!!!

IMO it also points out there is no need to worry about them watching us, and if they are thet may well be looking for ideas on how to improve the current situation!

We dont know and I guess will never know if Thai Immigration read through here on not. But im sure they know TV exists and there are proably people who work for immigration that browse through here from time to time to see what we are saying (Sawasdee to any immigration officials reading this!) I doubt they would change any laws or rules because of what people say here, but I guess the could if they thought it was a serious matter. I dont know if immigration have the brains working there to come up with their own ideas so maybe they do read through here................

I really don't believe that Thai Immigration people would bother trying to read an English forum such as this one.

no immigration doesnt read

its the CID

for sure

but dont tell anyone i dont want the sushi poison

They suddenly wanted more proof for income for US citizens other than just the letter issued by the embassy. It was just after the new rules for marriage visas were changed in October. I was pursuing that option until it was closed suddenly to my regret. I think they monitor this site.

Is that so?

So you think that thai immigration would not read an english forum (keep in mind most of the foriegn visitors to thailand that would need to deal with immigration and thai visas dont speak thai, so they will be most likely using an english internet forum to communicate their stories and ideas)

Im sure immigration would get shit loads more info from here than from any forum in thai or another language.

And, to add to that, anyone who believes that the people at immigration cant read english need to wake up! There would be at least quite afew fluent english speaking people there and dont forget as most thais cant speak english all that well, their reading and writing abilities arent that bad as they are taught how to read and write english at school.

My apologies to any immigration officer reading this that may find some of my language offencive :o

Yes Aussiestyle. That is so, I don't believe that ANY Thai Immigration people read this forum. We're talking about "belief" here. If you have factual information to prove that they do, please present it. Your stories about how well many of them read English does not convince me that they use their English skills to read this forum.

....so I look forward to reading more of them and thank you pointing out that you've not been breaking any rules...although I have no idea why you wish to state that as that was never a mentioned concern. Oh well, just a little nuance of the tropo persona, I suppose...

Anyway, Good luck and welcome to thaivisa.

*sigh*....*sigh*

I was really hoping that you'd keep your word and not reply to me.

Did you forget what you wrote earlier:

"whereas you on the other hand... well, let's just say they have lots to go on and look into further from what you've thrown out there in 2 months.

but anyway... you're confident that Thaivisa is not being monitored... that's fine.

No need to worry... I'm sure they won't interfere with your visa runs... just keep believing"

You really should concentrate a lot harder when you reply.

Anyway, thank you and welcome to Thaivisa.

Obviously since you seem to have a reading disability, I'll just point that no where in the above post did I say I would not reply to you, let alone, make it a promise.

It's amazing how much more efficient your future posts might be, if you slow down and take the time to read the posts you are responding to AND read the post you've written PRIOR to clicking on that "Add Reply" button.

Good luck. :o

Thank god Thai visa exists so that people can express their beliefs whitout having to produce so called "factual information"

Maybe you have "factual information" to present to us to proove that Thai immigration employees dont read this forum, if so, please share this with us........................

I dont have any "factual imformation" to proove Thai immigration employees read this forum I was just expressing my beliefs, just like you..............

Welcome to thaivisa.com :o

The truth is probably somewhere in between. There are a lot of people who work there and surely some read here but what does that mean? Do they read the FAQ's? Do they subscribe and get the email? I doubt they would dig into a long tiring thread like this. Surely this would put them to sleep and convince them further Farangs are indeed retarded.

That part of government has a lot to worry about. Many other Asian visitors from nearby countries and their day to day underpaid bureaucratic jobs.

In any case lets say they read the site? then what? are they really going to figure out anything that precious? They have to know how many Visa's are being issued from various Consulates.

Lets say people on ThaiVisa recommend going to XYZ consulate to get a TV. They will know behavior because visa applications will increase. Big deal if they read it on ThaiVisa.

Let's get back to posting constructive information about visa runs and real stuff that affects us.

Obviously you have a memory dysfunction in addition to your paranoid tendencies.

This is a post of yours on a thread in the Pattaya room titled "Swedish murder....":

"*sigh*

sorry tropo... but you're just not worth the effort."

This is not difficult to understand, even by a person with reading difficulties. Now strictly speaking it's not a promise, but an indication that you have given up replying to me... the connotation is there.

And then 5 hours later I suffer my first response from you in another thread.

If your problem is not a memory function deficiency, then it's probably flooding due to your over zealous posting habits.

Good luck :D

I recently make a few trips to Poipet with my friends for casino.

To my surprise my passport already written entry 1 , 2 with green pen

even less then 60 days I stay in Thailand.

I would like to know if someone make 3 trips to Cambodia in one month period,

Is that mean he no longer allow to stay in Thailand.?

it does get rather bitchy in here!!

anyway i will hopfuly put your minds to rest regarding immi reading this forum.

a few days ago i posted on their forum, no one has responded which would lead me to believe they won't be reading here because they can't be bothered to read their own, and if they are reading here they won't be paying troo much attention to what is being written.

if they are reading please give me a new visa so i can stay with my wife and child, feel free to answer the question i posted on your forum immi guys! thanks in advance.

Kido, I believe the Immigration officers are marking each 30-day entry stamp green so that after December 29 they will be able to locate them more easily to count the actual days people have stayed since October 1. Don't worry about how many stamps you have, just the days.

Sigh....when will thai immigration or those in charge learn to take care of foreigners so they can take their money and not make them feel unwelcome with all the unfriendly visa's and visa runs every 2 or 3 motnhs when in developed countries one can just go to police station to apply for extention after extension wih out having to travel out of the country spend one's money in a different country.

Embarrassing for thailand the visa system.

Embarrassing for thailand the visa system.

That would be when the powers that be get over their xenophobia(sp?). and the wealthy stop keeping the poor down.

I must say one thing that gets me about living here is knowing I will always be in limbo. It really isn't fair how this country treats none nationals while the home countries of the none nationals would welcome their spouses and children with open arms.

Even allowing them to become citizens.

The idea that it's best to stop none nationals owning anything here is best for the country is daft.

If they wanted to they could quite easily allow families containing none nationals to own enough land to build a house on, maybe a maximum of 1 rai, and that land would have to be used for residential only.

The general line for the refusal of such a plan is it would push up land prices. This of course is not true.

An example would be Ko Chang, most of the land there is own by wealthy thais, does this not push the price of land up or something?

For me, I live in BKK and the idea that me owning half a rai of land in the burbs could effect the land prices on sukhumvit is silly to say the least. You're right on an international stage the immigration policies of this country are an embarrasment.
