Best Hostel with private rooms

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I'm going to be spending a few days in Bangkok mid December. I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good hostel that has private rooms. My budget is around $30 a night and would like to stay near Khaosan Road. I'm 26 and traveling solo, so I'd like to find a place that has a similar demographic so I can meet new people.

Thanks!

With that budget you wont need a hostel, you can get a half decent hotel. get on agoda.com and have a look.

Ok thanks I will check that out. I guess my main concern is the ability to meet new people, that's why I was thinking hostel that offered private rooms too.

Completely wrong thinking. HoStels are not there to meet people-and most do dorm beds only-they are just copycats becse some smartish entrepreneur has heard that farang think that way and will pay much more as for the old-style guesthouses. Also: many specialise into 1 kind of farang-does it seems that sitting between 100+ Koreans or mainland-Chinese will give you much chance?

There is a very easy and obvious for anyone who has ever been here solution: right beside, or at the corner will be plenty of drink-bars made for meeting people. Or do it the Thai way right from the start: hire a handsome smartie local to guide you along and give company for that while.

What the hell are you talking about?

OP if you have a smile and easy going approach you will meet people in Bangkok.

Just don't be too trusting and have fun.
