Three died in parking area dispute



BANGKOK: -- An angry man last night shot dead three neighbours after a scramble for parking ended in a tragic incident.

The shooting happened in Bang Chan district of Bangkok’s eastern suburb in front Rid Barber on Soi Suan Sayam 15.

Police inspected the scene last night and found three spent cases of 9 mm cartridges, and a bullet.

All the three persons shot were rushed to Sereerak hospital where they were pronounced dead before arrival.

Killed were Mrs Sirilak or Jay Muay Sae Hor, 46, Mr Mulloh Bin-umat, 45, owner of the barber shop, and an unidentified Cambodian male employee.

Investigation by police revealed that the gunman was Mr Tosaporn Pitakwatananond.

Before the shooting the gunman drove his Toyota van to park in front of the barber shop which is next to his house.

He then had a heated argument with Jay Muay over the parking area in front of his house. Mr Mulloh came out of the shop in bid to calm down the quarrel.

But the angry driver instead, drew out a 9 mm pistol, fired shots at Jay Muay and her Cambodian employee.

Mr Mulloh ran back into his shop to escape but was chased and shot inside the shop.

The gunman then drove off and escaped, police said.

Bang Chan police they suspected the gunman ran away and hide somewhere in his relatives’ houses.

In this peace loving, Buddhist country, 10 million known guns!

When you study animal behaviour and observe the effect of crowding on a population - you might see similarities. RIP to those who lost their lives. We must do something to reduce human population. NO, I am not suggesting that we exterminate each other.

Being guns are so hard to find and life is so precious here I find this story completely unbelievable. If its true he will surely wai the family and offer compensation and become a monk for a few months then everything will be OK. Only in Thailand though

Nobody wants a Van infront of his shop. They are too large and block the sight, customers look inside barbershops to see if there's a qeueu.

Well here's a startling thought - rather than issuing press releases and inspecting the scene, why don't Bang Chan Police get off their backsides, cut around his relatives and arrest him?

I wouldn't know, as I have never wanted to kill anybody, but I suspect a machete would have suited him just fine.

If somebody is crazy enough to kill over a parking dispute, then they will kill.

The guy was/is off his rocker. Don't blame the weapon, which has a 50/50 chance of being legally owned in the first place.

If it was owned illegally, what good is gun control legislation?

My Thai friends keep telling me that an untold number of Thai drivers carry guns (registered or otherwise) in their vehicles in this country.

The same friends remind me to avoid all car-related or road-related confrontations, if at all possible--and however insignificant that confrontation may seem to be at the outset, as they can frequently and instantly spiral out of control.

As they counsel me, so many normally laid-back Thais can do a vicious Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde transformation when they get behind the wheel and darkened windows.

The proliferation of stories in the news like this are distressing. I'm beginning to believe my friends.

My question is "what was this Mr. Average doing being in possession of a gun" ?

Thinking he lives in a violent society where he may have to defend himself from psychos with guns.

Seems to me the fearful ones who have guns to protect themselves are the ones we all need to be protected from.

There was never anything they told you to disbelieve - unfortunately

I like this word "RUSHED" to the hospital. Nothing is rushed in Bangkok traffic, the cars are not even obliged to let the ambulance get through or move out of the way.

After many years in Thailand, I can say that Thai men are some of

the hottest tempered people I have ever met. And quick to resort

to extreme violence. So when Thais start telling me an important

thing to learn about living in Thailand is to be jai yen yen ( cool

heart ) , I generally burst into laughter at the mind boggling

hypocrisy.... Guess a clear cut example of " do as I say, not as

I do".

Remember the next time you get a road rage fever over something that the guy you flip off could easily have a gun in his car and be having a bad day and doesn't particulary care for farangs anyway......Often read stories of farangs like I'll show him, or I'll whip his butt etc etc....not if you're dead you sure will not.

Generally NOT a good idea to get into confrontations.
