And then 6 months later, they can fine us all again!

Sounds like a good strategy, to me !

By which time, the new buildings might also be complete& operational, they were actually demolishing one of the accomodation-buildings at airport-immigration when I was there this afternoon  ...  Progress !

The IO looked at my TM30 while I was getting my extension.  I had the receipt under it for the fine, but he took that out and said keep that elsewhere, but the TM30 was "very important.". I don't know if not having it would have been a deal breaker, and there are still many who are clueless about the whole thing.

I went last week for my 90 day and when I presented my TM47, I handed my newly acquired TM30 and the officer chucked it back at me and said that it was only necessary when I do my new Retirement Extension in Jan. So we'll see on that one LMFAO!

The problems I went through to get the TM30 was excruciating. My landlord is a Policeman(the whole family are from the father who is a retired colonel to the sisters and brothers) He refused at first to do it, but after my GF explained it to him he agreed. 3 days of back and forth to Airport IMM i finally got it, no leniency with the 1600THB fine though.

This site can be so confusing at times, if you read the previous 15 pages in this thread there must be scores of different opinions and experiences. Could it be possible for one of the Admins to put this thread in prospective as to what is and isn't fact.

I wish that IMM would replace the officer who does the 90day reports, damn she can be impossibly rude at times.

Do you have to do your TM30 reporting at IMM PROM after 5th December

Experience is not consistent, facts for one person one day will not necessarily be the same the next day.  You are looking for certainty where there is none.  Wing it, it is not so bad.

As no IO can give the same answer to the same question two days running, from either office, there is no chance of TV Admin doing any better than the rest of us at guessing tomorrows requirements.

(sorry dante99 I quoted you when I meant to quote the earlier poster!)

Hello ,folks,
I have been in Chiang Mai apartment owned by Thai nationalfor 5 years  on  my retirement visa.
And I have done my last visa extension in April this year.
The immigration officer in charge did not  ask me for landlord's TM30 receipt copy.
And I have never been asked for it  in the past.
And I have always been at the same address since I acquired my Retirement Visa.
I wonder if:
It is now compulsory for the foreigners to submit TM30 receipt for visa extension in Chiang Mai?

Is there anyone here, who has been asked for TM30 receipt  when you extended your visa
(not only retirement, but also tourist, or student) in Chiang Mai after October-November this year?

Is there anyone here whose visa extension application  has been refused  by the lack of TM30 receipt copies, in Chiang Mai, after October-November period this year?

Chiang Mai Immigration recently started to put up TM30 notices.
It is posted at the  desk-for-the-customer in a small way;small enough to be missed by most people.
And it says(as the original text):
Before extension your visa at
Chiang Mai Immigration  Please notify  your
place of residence by T.M.30 form and contact Investigation office to get a
receipt of notification for your visa
Tel. 053-282-289, 053-201-756 ext.17    Thank you
To my surprise, I have seen more than one  foreigners whose visa extension has been granted without TM30 receipt.

And many of them live in an apartment/guesthouse where the owners have not even submitted their TM30 to the immigration office here.

Comments with recent(after Oct-Nov) visa extension experience will be highly appreciated.

After having read the thread and even quoted the signs up in immigration why not simply comply and get it done?

One thing I am keen to know about:

1-Is there anyone here, who has been asked for TM30 receipt  when you extended your visa(any visas) in Chiang Mai

after October-November this year?

2-Is there anyone here whose visa extension application  has been refused  by the lack of TM30 receipt copies, in Chiang Mai, after October-November period this year?

If the landlord/apartment owners are willing to do  their jobs, there will be no problems.

But what if they are reluctant?  And that is what is happening to me!

My landlord who stole her sister's business(running that apartment) a few years ago,

went on overseas trip when she has to do all this(TM30), as if she wants to evade her duty.

I later found she was advised by the local police to lodge TM30, 6 months earlier, but did not do so.

What is worse, to fill in her absence, she appointed someone(young Thai woman, her relative) ,who is totally incapable of handing this issue.

The apartment I live in houses more  than 10 foreigners.

Most of them don't even know about TM30 things.

Her agent does not even collect required information from them; to shy to talk to the foreigners.

When I say I can help her in that respect, she gets upset.

That is why I would like to know about other  people's case  in the similar situation.

Since the owner is overseas, I cannot get the papers.

If it is my  one-man operation, I will do so immediately.

Since I love my current dwelling, I do not move away.

I have a kind of  bond with the  family of the the old owner who is still in the same apartment.

Immigration said to my building owner, if I come back to same address after leaving the country, I should go to do TM28 at (formerly) the building at side of airport immigration, not them.

So building only once TM30 and the foreigner TM28 in person on any exit/re-entry.

HOWEVER, I'm sure that will not be the last word on this new headache extra hoop to stay here... ;-(

TM28 is change of address so what your landlord was told does not make sense, TM30 should be endorsed by imm on return to your original address.

Airport (capt Tissaporn) told me exactly the same thing during discussion of my absentee landlord too..

TM 28 every time I went anywhere for >24hs... Any hotel stay, any movement, any out of the country..

Partly why I have decided to drop off extensions back to annual multiple entries.

Not confusing at all.  When people start to comply with the current interpretation, & the money flowing in from fines therefore starts to decline, manipulate the interpretations a bit to get revenue back on track.

Haha, all I know is the guy tapped my details into online address registration website at the back of old immi. building at airport and gave me a new tear-off form and my previous tear-off form back...whether that counts as a TM30 or TM28 - it is in the system, and I'll get a visa extension with that piece of paper stapled in my passport same as last time. If people have to go all the way to Promenada now for a foreigner TM28 report, then THAT will be a headache vs the small quiet building at old airport immi. which I just read has closed down.

Yes, me. See my post in the retirement extension thread in mid October. But I know others who were not asked for it on later visits.

On 28 Nov I posted that I tried to pay the TM30 fine for late registration but the IO at Airport Immigration interrogation hut would not a accept the fine money or issue a receipt.

Since then has anyone else either paid the fine or been refused, or better still not paid the fine and been able to get either a non imm 'o' visa or retirement extension.

I am being hassled by one part of Immigration for a fine receipt that the other part of immigration  won't let me pay!  A lovely merry go round!

Dear CMMCB,

Thank you for your contribution in response to my question.

Please allow me something more about it if you do not mind.

After your application was refused for that reason, what did you do?

Did you:

Try to re-apply some other day before the visa's expirey date?

quickly moved to any other property where the owner is helpful to lodge TM30 on your behalf?

did you decide to use any visa agent submitting your papers somewhere else, eg. Pattaya or BKK?

Or did you decide to leave Thailand?

 Dear scottiejohn,

Did you lodge the form yourself(re:TM30)?

I wonder if you are condo owner or married to Thai national and living in the property held in your partner's name?

Or your landlord filled in and attached the documents required and you took them to the immigration?

I have got another simply question:

Chiang Mai immigration at Promnada, checks whether documents are all ready before they hand out the que card.

If anything needed is missing, they advise foreigner to get it and come back some other time.

It has always been like that since they moved to the Promnada from the old location(near airport).

Does that pre-inspection  officer clearly mention that TM30 is needed in the first place for the visa extension to every foreigner?

Or will there be any announcment through the microphone  that says so?

Or the question related to TM30 starts all of sudden after the processing started?

Reply related to that will be appreciated.

I did my last Rv extension in April this year.

And did my last 90days report in early November.

I have never been asked for TM30 receipt on any occasions.

Not this year. Not in any past time either.

So I would like to seek up-to-date info from someone who got it.

They checked mine was there for a single-entry TV extension 4sure...for retirees...it seems to depend on the weather...i.e. sometimes yes, sometimes no and no such much for any kind of visa rest of the nation !

I have recently got an kind of in-depth info from the professional.

One of the immigration lawyers said that since I have not changed my address from the time of beginning(before & after obtaining Rv),

they did not ask me for TM30 receipt.

Interesting isn't it?

The answers to your questions are in my original post of 28 Nov and have no bearing whatsoever on my questions/request for answers!

I would still love to know the experience of any TM30 fine(s) applied or not.

Posted

I have been in and out of the country about 6 or 7 times this past 12 months…..is the 1600 baht fine for each offence or juts a single fine?

Posted

My understanding is a single fine for all past sins, but only if they will take the money and issue a receipt.

They want the entry stamp as a start date up to TM 30 registration and or any in between days you were not registered by your hotels.

My TM30 fine receipt problem as mentioned in previous posts has now been resolved, probably as the TM30 desk and the Non Imm 'O' desks are only yards apart in the Imm office on the upper floors of the Promenada.

Girl at the Non Imm 'O' desk sorted out all her paperwork, took the usual photo then sent me down to the TM30 desk a few yards away and 3 mins later had receipt of 1600Baht fine and hey presto passport returned with appropriate stamps etc!

Had the same response.About to do my annual renewal the 1600 b will be in the back pocket.

Went there today to 2nd floor at Prom (top floor).  Only to do a TM30 update.  I'd already been in with the owner to do the original TM30 a year ago and twice since then called back to just get a new date stamp on it after an exit / return to LOS.  Nothing more required provided you haven't changed address.  No forms, nothing.  They just update the computer with the new TM6 details etc and date stamp the original receipt.

There was a couple at the desk ahead of me handing over 1,600 baht and getting a receipt.  The desk only does TM30s.

Sorry AM, not been back to this thread for a while. My extension wasn't refused as I was able to show the requested TM30 receipt. Fuller details in my post to the retirement extension thread.
