Extension of non b visa..

Hi everyone..

I have to ask if anyone know if the 30 days extension is possible on a non b visa as well?

I have a Chinese friend that has been teaching for one year and her visa expires the 31 of march..

Thanks in advance!

I used to cross the border a few days before the expiry date on my B and get an extra 80+ days, giving me nearly 15 months in total before renewal.

Maybe the OP's friend has already done that or they have stopped it.

That would work if it's a multiple-entry non-b, but if it's not and if the person doesn't have a work permit to extend their visa, they'll only be able to get the 7 day extension I think.

That's true.

It would be worth a phone call to CR or Mae Sai immigration to find out.

Immigration Rai No. 117 Moo 10. Wiang Phang Kham. Mae Sai. Chiangrai 57130, phone 053 731 008, fax 053 731 009.

She got work permit and she's been teaching 2 semesters. Visa runs out and she is looking for a new job before visa expires. Anyway if she only get 7 days she will go back to China and apply for a tourist visa

Vientiane is closer, shouldn't have a problem straight off a non-immB.

If she uses the "agents" in the street by the embassy it's quick and easy, other than that it's a long wait both on arrival and pick up.

It s not really a long wait, went last week waiting to drop papers 30', pick up 10'

There are big and clear signs posted in the waiting room not to use agents.

It's a couple of years since I was last there so it certainly sounds like it's improved.

Used to be a mad scramble back then, particularly if everyone wanted to get to the border as early as possible after pick up.

I will be returning on a non O multiple entry visa. So I will have to cross at Mai Sai every 90 days do I have that right? Have never had a non immigrant visa on any denomination before. Just saw these posts and thought I would add on my query. Look forward to getting home in second week April I have been a way to long. Thanks ahead of time.

With a multiple entry visa you should have no problem.

Good to know VF. But will have to do a border crossing every 3 months right? ( Mai Sai / Tachlik)

If it were me, I would stop by immigration in Chiang Rai on one of my trips to town and ask them what my alternatives might be. Depending on how long you plan to be around, there may be other options. Most of us have found the immigration officers very helpful. My might also post a question in the visa section here on ThaiVisa.

The guys who report problems are typically those who showed up in Thailand without getting a visa in advance and expected to stay longterm on an exemption meant for very brief stays.
