Pigeon spikes.. Where to buy?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm after getting some anti pigeon spikes. I know I can get them off the internet but would prefer to get them from a store to check the size etc.. Thaiwatsadu, Global etc. Any one seen them or bought them from any of the DIY chains. Thanks

I dont know your location, but here in Chiang Mai there is a shop selling all

kinds of Japanese nick-nacks,I believe they have branches in other parts

of Thailand , its called Daiso, most goods are 60 THB, Google them they

have a website with list of stores, They have the bird spikes made plastic

regards Worgeordie

P.S. its www.daisoeshop.com , looks they have mail order too.

I bought a few of the plastic ones from Daiso but completely useless - gaps too big, spikes not pointed, so pigeons just sat between the spikes.

Double sided tape seems to work...keeps the geckos off too... while it stays sticky. Can make it up yourself with cloth tape or the like.

I've seen those spikes you're referring to in HomeWorks. They're not cheap though, unless it's just a little window sill you're trying to protect. At the HomeWorks where i saw them (Pattaya) they were near the door entry systems/burglar alarm section. None on display, just boxes with Thai writing and kinda primitive cave drawings of birds and spikes... Way too costly for all the flat surfaces at my place.

The best solution I have found, where appropriate, is fishing line run along the length of the wall/sill you are trying to protect, about an inch above the surface and 2 or 3 rows if needs be. E.g. a nail in one end with fishing line tied to it, run the length of the sill to a nail at the other end. It's too thin for birds feet to grip on to. Doesn't suit all situations, but you can often find a workaround to apply the same theory.

I've seen the spikes at the Buriram HomePro Store. They were not 60 baht. The bird repellent systems sold at the Buriram Home Pro were not inexpensive, yet they were interesting. I was most interested in the wire system sold at the Buriram Home Pro. The bird repellent display is near the imported wall and floor tile.

Here is a photo I took in the Bird Repellent Display in the Buriram HomePro Store. They range in price from 4320 baht downwards.

Yup. My local Homepro had them.. Still thinking about it. Going to try barbed wire first.. It's like a shelf so I think I can have the wire in a spiral.

I just removed a nest build right into those grey spike-things from Daiso.

You need longer metal spikes with sharp points.

do what we do,make up a few bunches of kaffir lime branches, they got needles that will go through half inch ply.

just put them in the corners where you see any bird trying to build, they wont come back.

just be carefull when making them as i found out.

Those "Bird-spikes" look incredibly ugly - if not downright dangerous if you have small children using the Balcony or whatever.

You can buy nylon netting which is almost invisible - Google for Thai suppliers / installers.

Netting, spikes or poison is the cheapest way for a housing situation.

In rice fields l see farmers with catapults using them small banger thingys that are lit

don't know what their called but they wouldn't go down well with the neighbours. :D

Airguns are expensive, the air-soft BB guns are cheaper but unless upgraded are not much use and waving a gun around shooting pigeons in the neighbourhood wouldn't end well either.

Is it possible for farangs to own shotguns here?

A 28-guage side-by-side is my preferred choice for shooting pigeons on my farm.

Great fun.
