Police hunt thugs who brutally attacked British family in Hua Hin

HUA HIN:-- Police have asked for help in identifying two youths involved in a serious assault on a family of British tourists.

A video clip from CCTV from a camera at the entrance to Soi Bintabaht in front of Wat Hua Hin captures a serious argument between a British tourist family of three people - a mum, dad and their child - who were in the area to celebrate Songkran on the evening of April 13th.

The family encounter a group of youths and an argument develops into a serious assault where the three foreigners are unable to defend themselves and were grievously injured.

In the clip, the family can be seen getting into an argument with the attackers. A man appears to strike the foreign woman before other, presumably Thai men, start attacking the two other foreign men. All three foreigners are knocked to the floor.

The attack only stops when the three foreigners are unconscious but not before one Thai man lands a brutal volley to the face of the woman as she tries to get up in what is a truly shocking display of violence.

Hua Hin police are sharing the video footage to help arrest those responsible.

Police have two of the attackers in custody and are trying to find two more.

They appeal for help to find those responsible for the violence against the unnamed British family and the damage it has done to local tourism.

Anyone one who has information or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact officers at Hua Hin police station.

Edit to add - Thaivisa has not received any further information on the condition of the victims.

UPDATE #1 - April 28

Thaivisa understands that police now have 6 men in custody over the attack.

The Daily Mirror, which has now covered the story along with numerous other British news sites, features a report from a man who claimed to have witnessed the incident and came to the defence of the 65 year old female victim.

The Mirror also reports that three victims are still in hospital and will require cosmetic dental work following the attack.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said: "Our staff have been in contact with the family to offer assistance and will remain in contact with the local authorities."

Pussys . I'm sorry but these little mugs wouldn't do this to someone sober or half the age of this family . The tourist industry should be damaged by this as these little rats have been getting away with this for decades

Jesus - that was absolutely disgusting. What on Earth is wrong with those guys? Kicking a woman in the face when she is on the ground. They are animals.

I going to do the joke = Thai's could never do this.

If it wasn't for the CCTV then guess (no prizes) where the finger(second joke) would be pointed

This should go viral as an example of the Thai capacity for senseless violence.

Smashing up an older woman like that.

Despicable.

All potential tourists should see this and draw their own conclusions.

Notice how nobody tries to intervene and that the tourists are passive when the first blows are struck.

They don't even try to fight back, presumably because they don't realise they are within violence until they are already on the floor.

This is very bad but not as bad as the rest of the bad stuff that is increasingly happening here.

What did they do wrong ??

Point their shoes, fail to buy or just exhibit not enough "thainess"

Make this senseless, cruel violence viral.

This is beyond belief.

Tourists cannot be subjected to such violence this needs to be send all over the entire world to let people around the Planet see how these gutless disgusting animals treat us foreigners.

Time after time we're robbed, humiliated, murdered, aussaulted, raped, conned and still not enough is done to deter these street gangs or crazy ladyboys from these constant attacks. What's next - kill our children ???

I'm sick of this!!!!

Well, after 16 seconds in the Video the Farang hits the Thai man passing, discussion starts and on second 52 the English Lady hits the Thai man in the face.

That are the first hits made in the video.

Even the lady hits the man it is not an excuse for a mob to kick the daylight out of others.

I agree that this violence is absolute not done and the boys need to be tracked down by police and get punished.

But after looking several times I can not agree that the tourist where passive and just passing.

Most likely they will get fined only 250 Baht each, since the ladyboys who knocked out a tourist in Pattaya were fined 500 Baht each, but they used a stone as weapon. The thugs in the video used "just" fists and feet...

How about a serious crackdown on foreigners who dare to walk around in Thailand? Perhaps hunt all foreigners in Thailand down for loitering? That would be a good start, no? sick.gif

Imagine the the reaction if a group of Thai tourists were beaten up like this in NZ, HK, Washington, New York, Liverpool or Yangon........................

Front page of the Post for sure and thousands of Thai social media comments.

It wouldn't happen though, that's the difference.

The national outrage would be off the scale.

Here we are just supposed to take it, thank you very much, and sorry we forgot to leave our wallets at the airport.

Another day in paradise.

Welcome to Thailand the land of smiles. A Buddhist country full of peaceful people who welcome tourists.

People might be naive when they come here but they often go home with a more realistic viewpoint.

We can rant and rave here about this disgusting display of violence but absolutely nothing will change or improve because the culprits if caught rarely receive appropriate punishment. And lest we think all this violence is only directed at foreigners....it isn't. Even Thais often fall foul of these violent gangs but we rarely here about it because it has become so commonplace. LOS .....land of scumbags.

Maybe they should have stayed in England? Maybe they deserved what they got?

Shame on you, bubba1, shame on you!!!! sick.gifsick.gifsick.gif

Plenty of stereotypes of Chinese and Russians on this forum. Lager louts of working class English can't be talked about?

These victims scarcely fit the stereotype of Lager Louts now do they?

I was wondering when the first half-witted 'victim blaming apologist' would be along....didn't take long....

There is no grey area here, you dont hit up on a family enjoying songkran and then kick the <deleted> out of them when they are on the floor.

Disgusting and it should rightly go viral as a lesson to what is happening here quite frequently nowadays.

Land of smiles not.I hope they catch them but for what the punishment will be it is just not worth it,shame all round on this story.

its utterly digusting,

and for sure the police are NOT hunting down the thai scum, in fact the thai police dont care.

Please share this with your friend, on facebook and twitter, send this to your local newspaper... its time for payback!!!

Yep, s##t happens sometimes, had Songkran been celebrated in UK, the hoodies and the chavs would've created more havoc and mindless violence than this. All the "share this with everyone you know" crowd, are you also this enthusiastic about sharing good experiences you may encounter in TH, or do you just enjoy a good whinge?

Let me guess.

You own or have an interest in a hotel and not quite enough customers, right ??

How else can you excuse 5 or 6 kicks to the head of someone on the floor.

Thai Songkran exuberance or farang tourist stupidity for lying on the floor whilst being in the direction of the kick ?

Posted

Lemonjelly stop your nonsense. No matter what was said or done there is now excuse for kicking people in the head whilw they are unconscious or semi unconscious.

This is totally disgusting and disturbing. I really can't believe what I saw. Hope family are okay.

Also, there are far too many self loathing foreigners here. Stop dumping on your fellow foreigners. It doesn't impress Thais. They just think you're ridiculous. Dumping on fellow foreigners to make yourself feel better. Really is a perverse kind of narcissism.

From a local Hua Hin forum:

"6 Thai men in custody, CCTV footage has FINALLY been submitted to the court.

All these men known by H.H. Mib..all from 'powerful' Hua Hin families...
..I will not say to much here, but the handling of this case has many similarities to what you've all heard about
regarding the Kho Tao investigations..."

police hunt them down?

rememeber the youngster gang who killed a German because he asked them not to mess with his motorbike?

They were all found (congratulations for "hunting them down") none of them saw a judge or a prison cell

I really wonder why the Thai prisons are overcrowded - must be people who sold dvds they found in the garbage

or who couldn't afford the bribe

Ever noticed how a Thai will never look a foreigner in the eye ?

But they do love to attack relatively elderly foreigners en masse.

Black T-shirt enjoyed his day, especially knocking elderly lady spark out. And the "head-stamper". The guy was down on the ground. All retribution for foreigners with money.

Really terrible attack !!
