what are your thoughts now???,1/ that Costa was cumbersome, 2/ .lacked acceleration , 3/ and had Hazard , Pedro,  Willian teeing him up

no spinning off ,in another direction, just three quotes from O/G ,

Costa was a very effective player for Chelsea for most of his stay.  The latter part of last season he was fairly lousy and on a least two occasions in games i watched i'd go as far as to say he let down his manager and team mates with his petulant stupidity.

However, overall he did a good job, scoring a lot of goals, unsettling defenses, generally putting in a solid shift and selling him on in a hugely inflated market for 57m must be the icing on the cake for Abramovich.  (But sorry cobber,  he'll never be The Governor because hard men don't spit at other players and they certainly don't wear mittens when its a wee bit chilly)

Thats may take on it anyway......strange irony is that i reckon a bullish, thoroughly unpleasant Costa is exactly what Chelsea could have done with against Arsenal last weekend.

Whilst i'm on this thread i say that young Christensen looks like he's going to be a very good, a lot of maturity in a young player

Its :partytime2:  for our  resident Galah,s:smile:who continually and shamefully  slagged The Gov performances  for C/sea F.C f, despite his fine scoring record for the club,in particular his  two 20+goal contribitions,   which played a large part of us winning our last two  EPL titles, he  is officially off to Atheletico  Madrid, for a reported  57 MIL,a good luck to The Gov from E/S

BTW

The  Galah,s  ,with  The Gov  dead and buried, have already lined up Gary  Cahill,as their next Hit:sad:

a nice morning, to all

Costa, mid season , said that he was going to play in China on a much higher salary and he lost all interest in playing for Chelsea and his attitude could have cost Chelsea the PL title .

Chelsea were pushing to win the PL title and Costa was nonchalantly wandering round the pitch with China on his mind .

The general consensus is that Cahill isnt the better option at the back , which is just peoples opinion .

You'd find a way to have an argument in a telephone box.

Not at all , O/G,  just alluding Blue Muton to a post by you, and asking for his opinion:smile:and eagerly await his reply to it

My opinion on Costa is pretty much as I previously posted:

"His goals three years ago and for the first part of last season were certainly a major contribution to our last two titles, but let's not sweep under the carpet the fact that his antics in January were a most unwelcome distraction that might well have cost us the league. There will certainly be some PL defenders who will be relieved to see the back of him.

Anyway, enough of Costa, he's gone and we should look to the future, which is, of course, blue."

I loved it when he terrorised opposition defenders, he was a decent finisher and could create goals from lost causes. Having said that I am very pleased to see the back of him, especially for around £50m. Both Carmine and Sanemax have summed up the situation with him quite succinctly IMO. Incidentally I stick by my assessment of Morata from the day we signed him - he looks like the real deal.

But to get to your specific question on OG's observations, those are his opinions and I respect them, as I do yours - even when, as in the case of Bats, we disagree. I don't feel the need to get involved in other people's spats as I'm quite capable of starting my own, often without even trying!

A nice morning to you, too.

I don't recall seeing or hearing many fans slagging Costa for his on field performances,

the reason for the  O/G bump was your call as above, and E/S  was  merely asking for your views, .which you, have nicely sidestepped^^^^^ ,where O/G has clearly  slagg  Costa, and  not for the first time i might add,the three points that O/G has raised is the work of a Yesterday,s Man,or a lounge chair  Galah,

a very nice evening to all

You're becoming tiresome. You're calling me a Yesterday's Man because I called Costa cumbersome and devoid of acceleration, and you think that Conte's Chelsea still need a "steamroller" of a centre forward (your words) and that the "whippet type" (your words although I would have said "greyhound") striker is a thing of the past. First of all let's get something nice and sparkling clear, Conte told Costa last January that he wanted him out and not by text at the end of the season, as you said previously. That was too wish him good luck at his next club but Costa decided to make a drama out of it, the tart.

Now let me ask you a couple of questions. Who were statistically the two top strikers in La Liga (last season and five seasons before) and, for that matter, the world? Answer...Christiano Ronaldo and Messi. Most definitely not the crash, bang wallop type of striker you admire. Who were statistically the top two strikers in the Bundersliga last season?...Answer...Lewandoski and Aubameyang. Two strikers who use their pace and tactical awareness of space rather than bully defenders. Who were statistically the two best strikers in Serie A last season ?Answer....Dybala and Immobile. Same comment. Who were statistically the top three strikers in the Premier League last season? Answer....Harry Kane, Lukaku and Sanchez. If you told a Spurs supporter that Kane was a bully of a centre forward, who goes out to intimidate defenders and likes to wind up the opposition, they'd spit in your eye. Lukaku COULD be described as a physical player, but not by me. He uses his acceleration and powerful running off the shoulder of the defender, rather than getting involved in the brawn game. "Whippet" Sanchez is striker who looks for space and, again, uses his acceleration to get away from players. And you think I'm out of touch, you dingo?. What you know about football I've forgotten.

Now that is what you call being completely and utterly told.

That's like one of those Archie back handers that. Slapped straight back to his school years with that one.

many thks for that  ,just deflecting (for your own purposes) from the oringnal subject, your  Costa Slagging etc etc,  which from your three main points,  were not valid at all   ,, sorry to say that you have made a right Galah out of yourself, with those 3 main points,,Costa with his Mojo  in place was a Top  Draw number nine for C/sea  ,his stats (even when taking in, when  the Mojo had fallen off) are right up there,  with any striker,   say  over the last decade,  or so now with Costa out of  way,  you and your  other Galah  mate , have  Gary Cahill as your next HIT, for mine he still is a very important member, of our last line of defence and will play accordingly to  Conte,s plan he has in place, BTW  have noticed that Zouma is going great guns with Stoke, with no sign that his  full knee reconsruction is hampering him ,(til  this  point of time),he will be back with us ,sooner rather then later:smile:O/G you certainly seem to have a problem with my posts ,again i very politely ask for you to put  E/S on your ignore list,   problem quickly solved , old chap:smile:

a very nice morning to all

I am sure ATM are glad to have him back and wouldn't be forking over $50m+ otherwise. OTOH Costa is a boludo and who knows how he'll get along ? I'm sure Simeone will crack the whip if necessary.

My take is that Conte suffers fools pretty close to not at all. Exit Costa.

just  my gut feeling, but E/S  thinks  our season begins today a tough one ,away to Stoke

with the Costa saga finally  done and dusted, plus  Hazard finally makes  the run on side,  and  Morata /Baka / Rud and company having bedded in, etc etc

its time ,   to continue with a nice win today, and perhaps a bakers dozen undefeated spin is in sight:smile:

a lovely late morning to all

or so now with Costa out of  way,  you and your  other Galah  mate , have  Gary Cahill as your next HIT,

You have once again suggested that there are a group of Chelsea fans who systematically target certain players and try to hound them out the Club by giving them abuse .

That just isnt true , Costa was adored at Chelsea , it was when he mentally left Chelsea and mentally went to China mid season and downed tools , that some fans got annoyed with him .

Some fans also feel that Cahill isnt the best option in a back three.

That isnt a "hit" , thats an opinion .

I suggest that you stop your finger pointing and quit making untrue allegations

Yeah, and guaranteed he'll be there on Wednesday, grinning like a Cheshire Cat if Athletico put one over us.

Stoke obviously had a makeshift defence out, with old man Johnson on the right, but their midfield and attack are still to be reckoned with, so it was pleasing that we kept a clean sheet. Morata had a field day and was clinical in his finishing. I was surprised that Alonso, of all people would lose his cool after getting a few whacks. Conte was dead right to substitute him when he did. The Kante/Bakayoko duo worked well although Bakayoko seemed to lose a bit of confidence when a few of his passes went astray. Coming from Monaco, he likes to get the ball forward. Nothing wrong with that but, in this League, you've got to be patient as the opposition will be on top of you in a flash. He's also got to learn to put in a meaty tackle and not try to nick the ball, from the toes of the opposing player, all the time. Saying all that, he's still a fantastic prospect and will get better. Christensen is looking the b*****ks and worked well with Rudiger and safe - as - houses Azpilicueta. I thought Willian looked lively and must have got shoved in the back a dozen times without getting a free kick.

that was a nice Nude  win, although Stoke were depleted in defence ,with Zouma being  tied bound, and injurys also

never  the less  ,all players contributed in some way ,  to a solid performance .Morata,s hatrick will only give him further confidence into adjusting to the rigours of the E.P.L., now for Atheletico Madrid  and M/city on the bounce:smile:

a beautiful  no Costa good morning to all:smile:

Pull yourself together, Costa has gone u Galah:smile:

It would be better if you stopped calling people names .

Your posts would also be easier to read , if you used punctuation correctly and capitalised letters correctly and also used full words , instead of abbreviations .

I am not asking for perfection , I just feel that you could try a bit harder .

Use apostrophes , rather than commas .

Maybe you could also refer to yourself as *I* , rather then referring to yourself as a third party ?
