CityNews – The Sarapee Police Station was informed that a man’s body was found on the afternoon of Wednesday 25th in a pond in Sarapee district of Chiang Mai. A police officer went to the scene and found a shirtless man lying dead by the side of the pond. His hand was connected to an electrofishing device and connected to a live wire.

After the police cut the power and collected the body they discovered that the deceased was 28 year old Supol Noja. Witnesses at the scene say that Supol told his friends that he was going fishing at the pond, which is near his office.

the police speculate that he was standing in the water when he tried to electrocute the fish and accidentally electrocuted himself.

Accidentally? Sounds deliberate to me and a contender for today's Darwin award.

I've watched Thais do this using a car battery for the power, what was this guy using, the overhead mains power lines?

Is this the ripple effect of the new Fishing Regulations?

I do not expect waves of Burmese following suit!

It is not the current way to fish in Isaan?

Most people remain insulated from this kind of activity!

He sure wasn't wired for sound!

Did someone cable his next-of-kin?

His methods sure sparked a reaction!

Obviously he think he can electrocute a fish in the water with 220VAC

The fish did it and it was from Myanmar.

Yep, and the Burmese fish's finger prints were all over his mobile phone, and it smoked Malboro lights.
