Picking up new Everest on Wednesday, things to check?

And don't let any local journalist take a test drive! Journalists and Flord Everests don't go together well.

Especially ones who notice an electrical fault, but continue to drive it for another 3 days, observing it getting worse and worse, just to see just how bad it can ultimately get wink.png

What was the cause of the fire?

What was the cause of the fire?

There was a loose battery terminal, as a result of the battery being changed post delivery.

Enjoy your new ride. I have one of the first 2015 3.2 + models. Love it to pieces. Just done 2000km drive up around Chiang Mai/Rai. Was great on the fast windy hills, felt so stable.

I'm surprised that the journalists even noticed! I'm not sure I would have, being that it was a new vehicle. T.I.T. facepalm.gif

He had warning signs for 3 days before the fire, including battery warnings and erratic behavior of various systems such as the AdBlue level sensor, infotainment system, central locking system, and cruise control. For the final 2 days before the fire, the doors took multiple attempts to open, the engine took multiple attempts to start, and in his own words "the dash lit up like a Christmas tree" when it did - indicating that every fault lamp was on.

I'm pretty sure he knew there was an electrical problem wink.png

All that was due to a loose battery terminal? shock1.gif

Two days or two minutes seems irrelevant. Are you sure it was only a loose battery terminal?

Personally, I've never seen nor heard of such a thing. The only issue I've ever experienced with "loose battery terminal" is the car/truck/tractor won't start (same symptoms as battery failure). But this will NOT cause a short circuit or subsequent fire.

There has to be more to this story.

Well if you've not heard of it, then it can't be true. Maybe you should let the investigating engineers know?

Ah, you mean the damage controlling Ford engineers?

Why do posters who own a Brand allways try to defend it.?. Its not a Child ,coffee1.gif

I've never heard of a fire caused by a loose battery terminal, l have heard of a fire where a live battery cable chaffed making contact with body metal, it was my car...facepalm.gif ............laugh.png

I was only a DIY car & bike mechanic but a pal of mine had his own garage business and old batteries can cause explosions & result in fire, something faulty with new car electronics can cause battery failure.

Loose battery clamps or connection to terminals can cause sparks which can ignite battery gases.
