You can get a driving licence on a SETV as we (a friend over from UK and myself) went and got his yesterday morning no problem from KK DLO.

Each office seems to make up their own rules. What works in one won't work in another.

 

For example I've never done any kind of 'test' or watched the video in Thailand but I've had a 1 year and now a 5 year license issued based on my full UK license. I've also never had an international 'permit' which is merely a translation of the existing license - I have a feeling that they know what the markings on a UK license mean anyway.

Totally are I got my initial licence on a visa exempt in chonburi no problems at all. I only posted that a SETV is accepted here now in KK. As a heads up really and to counter this myth that it has to be a non o or its not leagal rubish posted on here.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I was on an Ed visa when I got my one year license but now I'm on TE visa which is essentially a glorified tourist visa which lasts 5 years but I still got the 5 year liecense. I guess it's up to them.
