Two More Ministers Appointed To The Interim Cabinet

The appointments of two more ministers to the interim Cabinet

Government Spokesman Yongyuth Maiyalarp indicated that the appointments of two more ministers to the interim Cabinet will help speed up and improve the government’s performance.

Army Capt. Yongyuth gave an interview in Vietnam on the appointments of two additional ministers, saying the proposal was submitted to His Majesty the King for His endorsement on November 16th. According to this proposal, Mr. Prasit Kovilaikul will be appointed as the Prime Minister’s Office Minister and Mr. Sommai Pasee will become the Deputy Minister of Finance.

However, the proposal is unrelated to Prime Minister's Office Minister Thirapat Serirangsan who has a disagreement with MCOT management.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula had a talk with Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont on this issue. M.R. Pridiyathorn requested for a person with financial knowledge and capabilities to assist him.

Mr. Prasit is a legal expert who was once a Dean of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Laws, and the interim government could use his expertise to help manage its legal issues. Meanwhile, Mr. Sommai is now a Thai Military Bank Chairman and a former Deputy Permanent Secretary for Finance. He is also one of the respected tax experts in Thailand.
