Sorry a strange view of procession you have lost me l have already pointed out the feeling of what many farangies think, the house l live in, is of value it's the land it's on l cannot own but l already knew that before l retired here and anyway it is no important's personally to me anyhow.

It's not important until the person who owns it wants you out, then you get to vacate 'voluntarily' or 'commit suicide'.

And yes, I do understand a lot of elderly foreign men have strange fantasies, maybe connected to some form of dementia.

It's just silly to paint a big target on your back.

If you don't bother to take care of yourself what you say could happen but a very sad view to take on living in Thailand and

easily prevented.

You should really understand there are different sets of circumstances and ways of protecting your interests.

And just curious, what's this Bull Sh*t about somebody being a criminal?

It's a crime for a Thai to own a property as proxy for a foreigner.

Therefore anyone who does it must be a criminal QED.

PS

I have no problem paying my property tax in the UK.

"Therefore anyone who does it must be a criminal QED."

You really should read things other than Thaivisa.

If you actually knew anything about land/property/real estate here, you would know there are many ways for a foreigner to control property in Thailand, legally. The ownership is in the Thai persons name and I have usufruct on the property. My name is in the section just below hers on the back of the chanote. When I first did it nine years ago, the land office had never even heard of it. I had to show them the law.

Usufruct is codified in Thai law...Civil & Commercial Code - Part III , sections 1417 to 1428.

You may want to reconsider before attempting to argue with me on matters real estate, both in the US & here.

"PS

I have no problem paying my property tax in the UK."

By the way, the comment I made about paying property tax has no bearing on whether or not you can afford to pay it. It was a mental exercise, which I see that you are woefully unprepared for. My mother once told me that it's hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man. My mother was a smart lady.

Since you failed to comprehend, I'll state it for you again. I won't pay property tax here (because there isn't any) and you don't pay property tax on your property in the UK. After a period of two to three years, we'll see who still remains resident in their home.

I'll still be here but the local gubbmit will have booted your ass out.

As the subject of the thread is about cost to live in Thailand, there actually was no point in either of you statements, now, was there?

Just an FYI for you, Miss Andry. I won't be looking at this thread again as I've said all I have to say. So flame on. You'll be screaming at yourself and anybody that actually knows who you are will have confirmation of their prior opinion of your intelligence.

Yes.
and in other communities would you eat with a spoon with a hole. ..
communities are different penalties for insults and lies.
I just remind you that you should not be a hero and keyboard insult all ..in Thailand, the law provides for the insult and the attribution of words that people do not say -
punishment,.

OP, I think you've really lost the plot. Your thread is about "Where is cheap price in Thailand" (apologies to English teachers, I'm just copying and pasting here).

As evidence of your claim, you mentioned DB in HK. It so happens that I lived in DB for 4 years in the early 90's as this was arguably the cheapest place for an expat to live and maintain some sort of a western lifestyle. For the benefit of those that do not know about DB, this was primarily an expat community of about 10,000 persons back in the early 90's. I believe that it houses close to 70,000 residents nowadays. It's located on Lantau Island and in those days, the only way to commute from DB to HK was via the DB ferry which is a journey of between 25 - 40 minutes depending on the vessel (it ranges from single hull death traps to catamarans). There was a "country club" style club which had tennis courts and a swimming pool. In order to book a tennis court, we used to send out maids out early on a Saturday morning in order to book a slot for the following Saturday.

Back in the early 90's, I paid about Thb 54,000 per month for a simple 2 bedroom flat (800 sq ft) consisting of two bedrooms, one bathroom, one kitchen, a combined dining and living room plus a small balcony. I have no idea what such a layout costs nowadays (I could always ask some of my HK staff if I was so inclined).

Compare this to downtown Bangkok where I was paying Thb 35,000 (until 6 months ago) for a 1,200 sq ft condo with swimming pool plus other facilities, at the intersection of Asoke and Suk. A pitching wedge distance away is Terminal 21. From my balcony, I could put my golf ball down onto soi Cowboy. I had hundreds of international cuisines at my doorstep. Within walking distance, Bei Otto for pork knuckle. Queen Vic's for an English breakfast, Landmark for buffet etc etc etc. And the OP is trying to mislead us by saying that Thailand is expensive compared to Hkg.

Furthermore, I was paying the princely sum of HKD 1,500 (Thb 6,700) per month to have a daytime maid (6 hours a day) to come and clean my apartment and feed and walk my dog. I now pay Thb 10,000 (20 years down the road) per month for a fulltime maid to clean my 5+1 bedroom (rented) house plus laundry plus preparing my meals (including shopping and running errands).

OP, you are asking what's cheap in Thailand. You are not discussing about quality of life. Even if you were, I can assure you that dollar for dollar, Thailand offers a better quality of life than most other countries. It's all a matter of whether you are willing to pay for it.

Where i lost?

I think need compare same? Is it?

You really should get your facts straight sometimes.

Full time live in maid in HKG is minimum HK$4,210. Mandatory one day off a week (usually Sunday). You are also compelled to pay for her return ticket on termination or expiry of contract. You must also take out compulsory insurance as well as free medical treatment. You must also provide food and lodging. All these things in HKG costs a lot of money. And you are saying that a full time maid in Bkk costs more? Like I said, get your facts straight.

Regarding rental, you must be the only person in this whole world that thinks Hkg is better value (value means taking into account quality) than Thailand.

Since you claim to be a poor guy, you should focus less on quality and focus more on quantity. Because, if you want quality and want to go out from your door and find a clean street, you can find this pretty much everywhere in Switzerland and large parts of Europe, Australia etc.

As to quality life with quality service, sorry to tell you that that's not normally available to poor people. We live in a capitalist society, you know.
