Suzuki Caribbean 1.3 Engine Transplant Options ??

Featured Replies

Hi All, could you please advise me of the available engine transplant options for my 1997 Suzuki Caribian, manual transmission. The 1.3 engine is worn, needing piston rings and valve gear needs attention.

I would prefer if possible to keep the existing gearbox set up.

Would it have fuel injection, if so I assume the original fuel pump will need to be changed, but keep the original fuel tank.

The car has LPG mixing, should this be changed.

Thank you in anticipation.

Tom

I answered in your other thread about one I'd seen.....

Did you join or ask in the  Suzuki Caribian  Club Thailand ?  Lots of members here, also have Clubs in the UK, [sure many other Countries have them]  maybe get good info ?

Here I have seen a number that have the Vitara 1.6 engine,  there is one running around with the 2 lt V6 from the Vitara.. did see a few years ago a diesel Ford transplant but that was also with the Auto gearbox.

I've seen one here in CM with a Nissan engine, believe he told me it was a 2.8.....

Not sure on the drivetrain modes - If any....Lightly built & probably needs consideration also.....

Hi Don, thank you for the info, 4.0 liter V8, maybe a bit over the top for my Suzuki Caribian.

Regards Tom

I heard people were using a VW 2 litre turbo diesel. But not sure how you would get one.
