Gas cooker servicing

Featured Replies

Having a problem with a gas cooker we bought. The flame is very high and emits a lot of black smoke/soot, and we can't find anyone to service it. We are in the Somdet area but could stretch out to Kalasin to find someone.

So does anyone know of anyone who could fix it? The place we bought it doesn't want to know, of course. They have our money, end of.

Can't help with a local service chap, but these things are not rocket science:-

Check that you've removed all the packing, smoky flames usually indicates lack of air so make sure the air intakes near the gas jets are clear (we've had gekkos and all sorts making their homes in the mixer tubes). Check any air adjustments are actually open.

Correct regulator on your bottle?

Thanks. Already done all the checks. I should have said, but I'll get the screwdriver out and have another go. Found old chicken bones and other stuff in another cooker once that I guess had been hauled in by mice.

if you just bought it , take it back

No, it was a good deal. It's made by Singer but the English language link to Service on their website doesn't work (!). I've found a Bangkok phone number though that my wife can call.

But have you ever tried insisting on anything in Thailand? If you do it face-to-face they totally blank you and act as if you aren't there. If on the phone they are likely to hang up.
