If you want a Thai DL you will have to take the rather annoying test again. The physical test is quite simple.

You need a little script from your doctor saying your fit enough to drive a car - don't worry everyone who can walk and has all limbs will get that one.

Then go to your DMV take a number, do the physical test which is more like a joke, then the theoretical part which is somewhat a miracle but the staff will help you until you pass.

After you wasted the whole day at DMV, usually it takes until evening if you show up in the morning, you take a picture, pay a few hundred baht and walk out with your Thai DL.

Before opening a new topic, does anyone know if you have to do all the same again to renew your 5 year thai DL ? Or can I just get an international one now?

Am just going through the process now and I have a UK license, I went to the local Provincial Transport Office who issue Thai Driving License's. I had to have the following, Passport, UK Drivers License, International Drivers License and proof of where I live in Thailand (need letter from Immigration to say where you live) also need photo copy of all documents. The PTO then contact/write to the local Immigration office for proof/confirmation from them that you are living at the address you say you are (and where Immigration letter says you are) I was told they  have to check with Immigration as anyone could have written the Immigration letter I gave them. I have to wait two weeks for the reply to come through from Immigration. I will keep you posted on the next step as it happens. Also keep in mind that a different  Provincial Transport Office may require other things
