CTH seems to have been turned off

Featured Replies

Hi, I have CTH via satellite. Today (1st sept), they seem to have terminated the service. Can anyone confirm this?

I would like to replace CTH with a similar TV package. I already have True platinum and my internet connection is so slow that it will not support any internet related services. Any ideas for a package that has some  english speaking channels and the usual thai channels?

Any input appreciated.

They previously said service would terminate at the end of August.  You do not have access to fiber optic cable?

There is free to air sat service from Thaicom birds which have all the Thai stations and many others (not pay or English channels) if that would work.  GMM and PSI are the normal receivers used for either Ku or C-band transmissions.

CTH going bankrupt was the best thing that ever happened to that company - utter pants!

Thanks for info Lopburi3. No access to fiber optic cable - out in the boonies!!! Looks like true is the only option if you want english speakingTV.

Depending on location believe there are still options for Malaysia and other adjoining country subscriptions - but that would not include any Thai stations without another tuner so probably not viable for households where the local soaps and news are wanted.

Check the audio/video section of forum

If you can get the terrestrial digital TV a lot of the foreign programming has the original soundtrack on the alternate audio. About a grand or so for a box and antenna.

It's also worth talking to ToT about WiNet - a high speed 5GHz WiMax like solution for decent internet speeds out in the boonies.

Having recently made the change back to True Vision there is no comparison, much better HD quality / better programs ( with Platinum package ) / remotes with no lag and a 3rd box for free.

Albiet about 40% more expensive, worth every penny!

about 3 years ago, I gave CTH a go, soon enough, I have relished I'm doing business

with a monkey company, with same attitude and common sense of a grilled chicken

vendor, not much later I have pulled the plug and gone to ILIKEHD people, still, not

the best, but best of the worst shall we say.....

I've got my (redundant) CTH dish pointing at the sky. Any other satellites i can pick up from that direction?

My experience with CTH was excellent, sorry. Much better English coverage of EPL and better movies, including FOX ACTION movies. My move to True doesn't compare, it sucks. 30 minutes before the main EPL coverage there is a THAI intro, and no match summaries the following Sunday morning.  and it's much more expensive, so sorry, I'll be looking for alternatives ASAP.

Please check to make sure the cable is not loose; and that your TV is turned on.

Please also make sure it is sunny and no wind over 1 km/hour.

And that you have paid one year in advance.

Have heard with demise of CTH satalite set up a lot of the channels they carried ie fox action movies and others. That talks with true are ongoing to have them included on there platform. Which means more channels on true repeating the same old movies over and over again. Sorry OP I realise your Internet is rubish but 5hank god for Kodi.

That sounds disappointing. After a month in uk I'm back next week to deal with where I go from what will be my now redundant CTH set up. Again, I can't really get decent internet speed to rely on internet based services like ilikehd which I guess just leaves True. I often can't stay up to see the laterEPL  matches and liked to catch up with reruns the following morning. Is there none of that or recording facility? I must say after a month here with Sky ,I realise how vastly superior it is to any Thai service.

FWIW CTH's EPL coverage was badass, all matches shown, and Stadium 6 showing PLTV 24/7.... sorely missed :(

Use the ILIKEHD Premium Sports package. Mio Stadium 102 from Singapore carries the old CTH Stadium 6 Premier League TV output, so I watch the preview/mid-match/post-match stuff on that via the internet and laptop and the actual matches on True for the better quality broadcast. ILIKEHD also has BT Sport and Sky Sports if you want to use just that source, but it can be a bit flaky.

The True package for the actual matches isn't expensive, at 299 a month. Cheaper than CTH. Although you do need another package with it. I pay 299 for the basic Family package.

Not sure what badass means, but CTH coverage was great. It was just the rest of the company was totally useless. As I have mentioned elsewhere, you can watch the same PLTV 24/7 coverage via ILIKEHD premier sports package, on Mio Stadium 102. I think that is the only source, but if anyone knows different I'd be interested to hear.

AIS also have a WiNet system similar to TOT's

I think he's referring to this package - which, sadly, is not yet available in my amphur :(:-

Not only did CTH give us PLTV 24/7 but also a decent choice of English-language news channels (Sky, Channel News Asia, France 24 & Euronews). True, on the other hand, only offer BBC and CNN, neither of which I can stand personally.

Not sure what it's called but it's definitely NOT the fibre optic system you're suggesting. That's completely different and requires the area to be completely hard wired with a fibre optic cable and supplies very high speeds.

The WiNet system is transmitted to the house by a wireless system from a base station that can be up to 10 km away (in much the same way at TV and radio signals are received)

Just googled it and it's called AIS AIRNET
