Was in my local Toyota dealers today. Got talking to a Thai chap that had the same Spivo as I have.

He had just had his electric drivers TRD seat fully recovered with new leather. (Supplied by Toyota BKK so not a copy)

Cost was just over 31th BT. Just under 30th for the cover's the rest was the fitting cost.

Would have been cheaper if they weren't TRD ones but not by a lot. I did ask why he hadn't had it done at the local seat place.

Reply they couldn't get the same colour leather.

Hence take care of your leather seats.

30K for one seat?? Seems on the high side..

That's what I thought but there you go that's what it is. And it was 31+K

The rest of the seats in his car looked like new, I did ask what had gone wrong, reply he had an accident with it.

D/M.

However the price is calculated that's the price. No doubt Ford Honda etc will also charge high prices. So whatever you drive just take care.

Honda city was 32,000 from memory for all interior seats internal sides of doors etc etc fitted at the Honda dealer,  l use the leather nourishment stuff from Big "C".

Can't think what kind accident he could of had to ruin a leather car drivers seat although Stiletto high heels can be lethal especially on roof linings, and that's only from memory too. :whistling:

I've used Lexol leather conditioner for years brown bottle and my seats stay supple and no creases. Back in the states in the tack shops it was all they sold.
eBay and Amazon has it.

paid 10,500 to get a Jazz done (all seats and door trims) at a small trim shop in Bkk. 1 1/2 years ago and still looking good, apparently used goat leather.

Salt is a real killer for leather, so a good idea to condition it once in a while. Seen a couple of leather seats wrecked from the metal rivets in jeans, the thin outer edge of the rivet can bend and acts like a razor.

Amazon and eBay don't work that well in Thailand...Lazada much faster (and probably cheaper). http://www.lazada.co.th/shop-automotive/?q=lexol&searchclickposition=cat1

Lexol leather cleaner/conditioner is also sold at Central's auto department.

Maybe not so over the top price wise as I first thought.

Have just been watching an old Wheeler Dealers (English car show) on the box and they had an MGA recovered in the USA two small bucket seats and door panels, cost $2,000 and that was some 5 years ago.

I doubt the leather from toyota is real leather.

Why?  Do you think that Toyota would get away with fraud?

I just restored a 1994 Honda Civic. Being painted now.. I had a local shop put in new leather seats and trim. They have a choice of MB, Toyota, Honda and other leather products to choose from.. Cost B30,000.

You can get  a good grade vinyl for B15,000.

I put perforated vinyl in a Vios 2006 a couple of years ago. Same feel as leather, front and back, auto place at Ruamchok in CM. Cost 5000 baht including fitting. B15,000 sounds pricey to me, unless there's been a big jump in inflation.

You might want to wind your neck in, there's a very good chance that I know a lot more about Toyota than you, as you're starting to prove.

Well said.... If you Google Rocaro Seats. Then subsection Original Equipment, theres a list of all their customers From Jag to Toyota.  No doubt Mr Gobbey wil say they arnt leather too. When Connoly closed they then supplied Jag/ Range Rover etc with Plastic Chairs i suppose.:clap2:

Same in Honda.

Funny what people come up with and OK you think what you like, there's different quality leathers and l was present watching as they were recovering at first,  looked at and felt also smelled the leather, for sure it was leather,  l have had many leather jackets too and know whether something is leather or not.

I'm in a real quandary now, I brought a new Spivo with what I thought was leather seats that now turn out to be genuine plastic.

Next I suppose that topping/inflating my tyres with straw 'that I do every two weeks' instead of air is incorrect as well.

Thank Buddha we have some really intelligent peeps on TV motoring section???

Modern rides with leather seats are probably leather on the bit you sit on but matching colour vinyl on the bits that your bum don't touch. Well that was the case with my Volvo....But if we talk Bentley or Rolls I would expect 100% leather..

There are many different leather in cars and the one I have in my Hondas is for sure on the lower scale in quality. It's strong but that's because most of it isn't real leather.

Real quality leather is dyed with the same color through it. Cheap leather have coating on top of it and you have another color if you look on the back of it. My Hondas have the later.

I think that is normal. The 'leather' on the backing can look different to that on the seated area.

Most leathers today are made of composite material have been made to be robust and long lasting. The are probably much better than what was put in a 50 y.o mgb. They are easier to look after, too.
