Whats Happening At Jj Market?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Every week I go down to the weekend market, just to wander around, grab some food etc, bit of a day out! Anyway I knew that there had been some illegal stall holders moved on, but yesterday it seems like that whole section is being demolished, even the guys who have been there years and years with big shops are all being told to close up, and their shops are empty. Does anyone know why it's happening, please don't tell me someone is redevolping the market as a hotel or condos!!!

The Sunday Market area is undergoing renovation under new ownership (believe it is mostly tropical fish sales) but many of the vender's have been reluctant to vacate. Believe it is just a small area of the total market.

That whole area suffered damage from about a 120 men coming into the market and demolishing it with crowbars and sledges, The vendors were still in them when the attack came. some of the vendor were hurt it seems.

the company who actually leases that land from the railroad decided they'd had enough of the vendors and decided to take the law into their own hands.
