Long Term Parking-Chiang Rai International

Featured Replies

Anybody have fairly recent experience with long term parking at the airport? Is it even allowed?  Will be away 5-6 days and would leave the car in covered parking if price is reasonable. Airport website only says B150 for 4-24 hours. Does not specifically mention long term, which is usually a different area in larger airports. Have seen a thread that says B260 per day. Any tips on this? If too pricey will press a relative for a ride!

Just back from a week in Bangkok.  Yes, 150 baht per day but finding a good spot is not easy.  We lucked out and had someone pullout just as we were creeping down the line. Even parked in one of the sheltered stalls your car will get a bit of weather so probably better for the car not to park out in the open or in an unmarked area, like some people do.

Thanks for this information. Do you have to tell them you are parking long term at the entry gate or just give them the ticket and pay the price on exiting?

It is very informal with no need to tell them anything.  The booth and the ticket both clearly show the pricing.  When you leave the attendant just counts the days on his fingers so make sure you count the number of days in your own head first as that will speed things up.

We came back on Saturday. The same as Villagefarang has stated. We departed on Tuesday and were charged 750 baht. This is what I had calculated. I try to find a park near the arrival entrance. As previously stated it is difficult to find a park sometimes.

Could I suggest a meter taxi as an alternative?

Call them and get a price for pick up from your house first.

It might for the OP but I travelled  from Phayao

The OP lives another 20 km down the road from me so that would be a very long taxi ride if he could find one willing to pick up that far out.

Yes, I'm a bit far out for a taxi. It's a matter of giving a relative gas money or paying the airport price.

There's also the red bus that I enjoy for some reason. Especially fun when the college backpackers are on board paging through their worn copies of the Lonely Planet guide.
