Soon be time for charities to start dishing out free blankets to the poor.

To replace the ones that they get every year and sell every spring.

Actually, the greatest amount of recipients are quite poor and after a year of use the blankets are fairly ragged. Nice to see the relevant authorities distributing new blankets each year as they are really a necessity and the folks who get them are very grateful.

If you say so it must be true, however the period of use here is 2 months at the most if they live say at 1,200m like the village at the Doi Inthanon Park HQ, and frankly I see them going around in slippers when I use shoes.

As for blanket duration, while in Europe I used to have the same one for ten years or longer. But maybe that's because I used it only to sleep.

The period of use is often until it falls apart. Used for a softer bed when warmer and often used for shade from the sun during the hot seasons. These are blankets/bed spreads that are inexpensively made and wear rather quickly as a rule and they do generally see an inordinate amount of daily use beyond the cold weather.
