PHUKET: -- A 63-year-old French tourist was found dead with his throat cut in a Patong hotel room last night.

Patong Police Captain Sirinart Cherdchutrakulthong received the report at about 9:30pm after a ‘Delicious Residence’ hotel staff member found the man’s body in a pool of blood in the bathroom.

The deceased had checked into the hotel last Friday and was due to check out on November 30, said Capt Sirinart.

“At 9 in the morning, a friend of his went to visit him at the hotel, but there was no answer. His friend came by again at 9pm, and then notified hotel staff when again he got no response,” said Capt Sirinart.

The staff used a universal key to enter the room and found the deceased with a deep cut to his neck lying on the bathroom floor.

Condolences to his family and friends. In usual RTP fashion, we can expect a quick finding of suicide, as there is no money in it for them to investigate.

...and in the usual Thaivisa fashion we can expect even quicker conspiracy theories by the score.

Read the topic and was quite sure that there are more than one comment telling this was a suicide. I was not wrong. If someone suggest that theory why it have to be repeated tens of times? Very boring and shows lack of imagination. This seems to the case every time when some farang is killed??

Don't you know that people on this forum don't bother reading all the replies that have already been made,  they just post their own comments whether or not someone else might have already said the same thing.

Plus they can't wait to imply the Thai police are incompetent.

Capt Sineenart said that she was told by the friend that the deceased had got divorced from his wife prior to leaving for Thailand and that this may have caused the man stress leading to him committing suicide.

This is laughable only it`s not funny. Another suicide, may just as well close this thread considering that this case is now concluded.

RIP & condolences to his family & loved ones. I'm not going to speculate in time-honoured TV style on the BIB conclusion as I'm sure we all really know how much genuine police work will go into that.

If I was the hotel owner, I would have been really hacked off that both the name of the hotel and the actual room number was disclosed.

And also shows they couldn't be bothered to read the article before posting. His friend offers a possible reason for suicide.

ok , I'm getting all the ironic remarks because they are stated too often but , and please take my question seriously , why would somebody commit suicide cutting himself from " his neck towards his left ear " ? not a forensic expert , just curious

Post nr 8. The Thai-bashing policeman strikes. Suradit would have taken half that time, must be his day off.

"Was he left or right-handed..?"is the main question.

A right-handed person, choosing to commit suicide in this manner, would use their right hand to hold the knife and cut towards their right ear, not towards their left ear.

Only 10% of people are left-handed, making it 90% likely this was not suicide. That's not to say it wasn't suicide, but it might be worth checking which was his dominant hand.

RIP. If you are left handed you would cut towards the left ear. If right handed, the other way. But it would have to be a bloody sharp knife.
