BANGKOK: -- After 4 years in business, Flow House Bangkok is closing on Nov. 27. The popular flowriding (think indoor surfing) club has been struggling with financial problems for over two years, according to a staff member.

The company announced the news earlier this week on social media. Many expressed surprise and sadness over the news. The club’s Facebook states that over 56,000 riders have visited over the years.

The announcement said that members with Flow Cards or Vouchers must redeem their tickets by Nov. 27, and they may share their remaining credits with friends as the company is unable to offer refunds.

Never knew the place existed.

Hence its closure.  They probably just did not have the advertising budget or the showmanship to get people in the door.  Did not see any pretty girls in any of their videos.

i think flow surfing just does not have adequate interest level in society as reflected by the minuscule % of thais that are into wave surfing

flow rider was getting expensive also

article says its a simulated wave machine which it is not. flow riding feels significantly different from wave surfing

an ex employee of mine worked there. he lost his job for stealing customers. have to wonder how many of these business are forced to close down due to theft. i never made it up there but it was supposed to be a good facility. 4 years is longer than most businesses last in thailand.

That is a shame I took my family there and they had a great time.

Thats why it is closing.

That is probably why it hasn't lasted. It is so sad to see so many businesses here go down the drain. Business plans, financial forecasting along with pilot studies, seems to be alien concepts.

So much to do in BKK that I never hear about.  I figured that's what expat forums were for, and it's sad that it seems we only get snippets of good info between flame wars and bashing the silly brown people.

Like the water skiing club near Swampy, and the SUP club on the river near DMK, and the sail/kayak/canoe park near Seacon Square...

I went there a few times for the "Kolour Sundays" events.

The surfing looked like fun

Good facilities

Heard of it, didn't really know where it was. Probably would never have visited either

Let's face it, the majority of Thais can't swim so anything water related as its business model is bound to fail unless you can tempt foreigners in.  As they appear not to have had an advertising budget then it's hardly surprising.

Unlike "tubing" and "rafting", Aquatic boarding isn't a whole lot of fun for first timers.  It takes a while to  be able to stand up for even a few seconds. I think the frustration factor was probably too high to attract anything but experienced boarders as repeat customers.

my post was not very clear. we had a thai watersports instructor and he was instructing our customers for cash while working for us. despite being caught in the act he denied it despite being caught in the act. he will be looking for a new job now.

Now I am confused.  What company was your instructor working for and where was he going?  Elaborate at least a little as you make no sense.

is getting off topic. my own staff member was stealing my customers (same staff member then went to work for this place that just closed down) made me wonder how many businesses close down due to theft.
