rooster59 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Request for zipline operations in Doi Suthep-Pui national park rejected The department director-general Mr Thunka Natithamsakul said that zipline is very popular among tourists who prefer something exciting and adventurous, but however, he noted, there were several accidents resulting in injuries. He stressed that the department would not allow these activities to be held in forests under its jurisdiction. Besides sliding from one tree top to another for a distance of 725 metres via a sling, the company, Eagle Track, also offers walking on hanging bridge, climbing spiral staircases and net and other adventuring activities. Kopitiam Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Good call. National parks should remain as natural spaces without commercial activities to disturb the peace.

What you say is true but I suspect forgetting the brown envelope had more to do with the decision than any care for the forest
Rama Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Aww, and I thought what CM really really needed was another mismanaged zipline.
peterpop Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The Northern and North western slopes of Doi Pui and Doi Suthep are a wonderful location for adventurous activities. Walking, camping, down hill sledges, cycling, scout camps...it is begging to be developed. I have walked these slopes for the last ten years and hardly ever see any one other than brave, noisy motor cyclists. They too should be made welcome. This is an opportunity squandered and yes maybe the normal Thai corruption problems have once again demonstrated how this country is held back from development because of this national sickness.
arithai12 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 There enough ziplines already, good call.
terminatorchiangmai Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 What about ziplining trough Chiang Mai self ? That would take care the ridicules traffic congestion every day and now even more in the weekends. .
