The department director-general Mr Thunka Natithamsakul said that zipline is very popular among tourists who prefer something exciting and adventurous, but however, he noted, there were several accidents resulting in injuries. Good call.  National parks should remain as natural spaces without commercial activities to disturb the peace.

What you say is true but I suspect forgetting the brown envelope had more to do with the decision than any care for the forest

The Northern and North western slopes of Doi Pui and Doi Suthep are a wonderful location for adventurous activities.  Walking, camping, down hill sledges, cycling, scout camps...it is begging to be developed.  I have walked these slopes for the last ten years and hardly ever see any one other than brave, noisy motor cyclists.  They too should be made welcome.  This is an opportunity squandered and yes maybe the normal Thai corruption problems have once again demonstrated how this country is held back from development because of this national sickness.
