Why pay for a Dobermann when you could pinscher

Reminds me of when we had a Doberman and Rottweiler a few years back. Had them from puppies and the Doberman then fell pregnant but, sad to say, had a problem which meant both she and the nine puppies she was carrying failed to survive. She was about 3/4 years old at the time.

The sadness continued as her mate, the Rottweiler, lost the will to live and passed away a few weeks later. Just wasted away.

Both were lovely dogs with the Rottie being very friendly and exuberant whereas the Doberman tended to be rather watchful and a touch sly. Based on our two, the Rottie was a better family dog with the Doberman an ideal guard dog. They were a great combo for us.

^ Nice story, if somewhat sad that your Rottie just pined away and died.

Coincidence, that many of my friends had either Rottweilers or Dobermans here and many of them died early and had serious health issues very early on.....?   MS>

Dobermans can be great pets. I had one in High School. Went everywhere with me. He lived for going out and meeting new people and other dogs. Cats....not so much. The little kids in the neighborhood would often ring the bell and ask if he could come out and play. Sadly he got bloat. After the second time we put him down. I have missed him often over the last four decades.
