Dog Obedience classes in korat

With respect, if you need dog training classes you shouldn't have a dogor have the wrong dog. Which applies to many dog owners of course.

A dog will in general constantly be trying to dominate his group, finding out how to be the boss without beating the bejeesus out of him every day is the key.

Our eight dogs run back immediately when called back to the dog pound, I only hit them once - that needs doing too.

Yes, watch some Youtube stuff and don't be too ambitious.

Ok, thanks your replies. I was a bit lose with my original post , here's the rub. The dog is nearly 3 years old, the wife had him in bangkok for the first 2 years, then I moved over here, the dog has had no training whatsoever ever from being a pup. He is house trained, so not too stupid. I have tried to train him and sometimes he listens but most of the time he just does his own thing, just need to get things going in the right direction, nearly all of the you tube dog training is for puppy's so not really relevant. So if there is classes out there I would to hear about them.

i found that most dogs dont need training just THE SO CALLED OWNERS with a wip.

when you want him to do what you ask give him a treet and plenty of love.

The basic training (learning what 'no' means, basically) needs to be done by about 18 months though you can teach old dogs new tricks with patience, depends on the breed. A very old dog will quickly learn where you hide his food so there's a clue as to how to start.

What exactly do you want the dog to learn?

Dogs react not just to words but the tone of voice that you use, so they always know when you are angry or happy with them.

Most Thai's never take their dog out but I have taken my dog out to the country every day, rain or shine for the last twelve years for her exercise. Her day revolves around this and she looks forward to going and if I am late she comes to remind me what the time is. So getting to the point why don't you hold your dogs lead and call her to you and then take her out each day, it won't be long before she comes whenever you call. That's how you train, it's repetitive with a reward at the end.

Hope this gives you something to think about and by the way I seem to remember hearing about a dog training centre on the Bangkok road just outside Korat somewhere, but don't know any more than that, except it may be something to do with the military.

I was thinking of that yesterday but wasn't sure that's what it was.  Whilst driving South on Highway 2 from Korat, somewhere between Lam Takong reservoir and, I "think" before or very near the police training installation, I've seen a small sign with the depiction of a German Shepard's head on the left side of the road.   Might even have "K9" on it, can't recall for sure.

Happy Larry & 55jay, thanks your reply, will look for the sign next time I'm going that way, as for the dog, he goes out morning and evening, same route round the lake, and he knows when it time to go, I let him off the lead on parts of the walk where there is no vehicles but he's a right bugger to get back on the lead. He has a mind of his own and likes to exersice it, even Carrying his favourite treat makes little or no difference and if he get a whiff of a female on heat that's it he's gone. He's got a big enclosed garden to wander around dureing the day, he's not just left to wander the street. Just need someone, probably to show me where it's all going wrong.

Google did provide some results.  Try "dog training in Thailand".

Here's one of the results I looked at - not Korat/Pak Chong specific.

as you have posted your dog being off the lead are you aware of the TICK problem we have in thailand.

there is a multitude of information in the pet forum.

do you have a regular vet.?

if not read my post and others in the pet section.

after much heartache and being ripped off i know myself and happylarry can recommend one.

Hi meatboy, thanks your reply, yep, know about the tick problem, he goes to the vet regular, but not sure about him. Seems to give him an injection, costs 60 baht. Just looked at 55jay link and sent them an email. Will look in the pet section for your posts. Will pm you if I need further advise! Thanks
