The price of curtains in Pattaya

Are those curtains that come with daylight and opaque (two layers) function that expensive?

I have a one bedroom corner unit and was quoted something in the range of 50,000 baht.

It's pretty scary, don't you think so? Is textile so much more expensive than LED TV, two-door fridge, sofa and microwave added together?

Have a look at the ready made curtains in Homepro, their own brand is called HLS  they come in several different sizes from small windows to large glass doors. they seem to have two main types of fabric, one is UV proof the other cheaper one not. I think they also have the lined curtains for extra light protection. They have the nice chrome rings for easy hanging and easy drawing. From memory a 30 x 45 curtain is around 500 baht and very nice extendible rail to hang them  on is around 400 baht, easy to fit and and way cheaper than getting them made and way better quality.

I just paid 30,000 for curtains last month. One window was about 6 mtres long and 2 were about 3.5 mtres, plus a couple of the small side windows. I had a chap come and measure and fit everything.

I looked in Homeworks and Homepro, one problem I had was that the length of the short curtains was just too short, so I would have had to have the long ones which would have looked awful. Another problem was that having long windows I would have needed about four curtains stretched out. I priced the curtains that I liked in Homepro and it would have cost around 20,000, without the two side window curtains and without the rails.

The quality of the material varies greatly and so does the price. With my original choice of material  I was quoted over 40,000 Baht, so I changed to something a bit cheaper.

That's a crazy price. I've just bought curtains for 4 large full length windows for 17,000.

Another crazy price...

You guys really have no ideas of things cost !

If you decide to use your brain you visit the Indian fabric seller near Tukcom and you will know what is the real price of curtains...

Does he measure the windows and fit the curtains afterwards?

One layer or two layers with the day curtains?

Flying back home today, I will check. If I remember correctly they seem to have a sort of suade backing.

The ones I saw at Hompro were just plain.

Does it include a separate translucent layer of white color day curtains?

When the vendor who came to my condo showed me the catalog, opaque ones going for 380 baht per yard and translucent day curtains 300 per yard.

By translucent day curtains are you referring to what others may call net curtains or is this something completely different?

I am told it's called day curtains.  It's like a veil, not exactly a net.

50,000 baht for 3 dual-panel windows and 2 four-panel balcony doors.  It's pretty scary by Thailand's standard.

I am determined to save at least 25,000 baht and use it to pay for my 40 inch Smart LED (only 13,000 baht), Hitachi refrigerator (6500 baht), Samsung Microwave (2000 baht), Stiebel Eltron bathroom heater (6000 baht) and more.

The day/net curtains are called shear-curtains or just shears.

You came also just buy a can of glass-wax for a couple hundred Baht that will cover them.

"SHEER" or "shear" ?

But wax will be permanent, just like films on the window panels.

Just one layer without the "sheer" curtains ?

I saw a shop selling curtains near FoodMart junction of Thepprasit.  I will use your pricing as a guide.

Yes, just one layer with "built-in" sun-block 80%.

We left the sheer curtains (glass-curtains) out since there's no need to have them.
