When are you going, there has been a second wave of tourists arrive so prices may still be a bit bloated ATM

Book a room in hotel for one night and take a look around the area you prefer, all types and all prices of rooms up to you

No need for a "hotel" even, Soi Post Office ( 13/2 ) has plenty of bar/guest houses with rooms around 500 a night. Could well find one to do a monthly rate for roughly what you are hoping to pay.

Please let us know what you end up paying and where.

For that price, looks like it'll be challenging to find one online. Local recommendations would help. And yes, best to look around the area personally.

The OP should note that he may also have to pay the electricity, if so, he should only accept the Government rate app 4 Bt per unit. A lot of these places will charge app 7Bt per unit, they should be avoided.
