Who in their right mind travels the world with 80,000 baht in their pocket especially partiers from Khao San Road - and an ATM machine on every block? Why was all there money together and not down their individual pants? Go figure.

Well in fairness....

Several charges were laid against the company including illegal adaptation of a vehicle and changing an engine number. The driver was banned from driving for three years.

how to make a story catchy.

in the Chiangmai newspaper it is titillating by itself... in the other one it mentions Northern Thailand..... otherwise the latter would not even have been worth a yawn.

impressive. Northern Thailand. not just a place with a different language, or lower diglossia.... for now..... but quite different in some other way.... but only for now too, perhaps...  yes?

what might that be?

and... is there any other take to this? we already know how ignorant we all can be, i.e. the USA now too. we know that!

$2,300 of cash money is just about enough to salvage your dream tropical holiday in the event your wallet gets stolen, your ATM card gets eaten by the machine, or it gets hacked by some Eastern European skimmers in one of the tourist areas.  Sure, you'll get a replacement, but by then- you've missed half your holiday.

I can't believe anyone traveling 10,000 km from home wouldn't carry at least that much for emergencies, like buying a plane ticket from the nearest airport if it turns out that hooker who stole your wallet was only 16, or has a jealous "brother"...

Pol Col Piyaphan Pattharapongsin, deputy superintendent of Chiang Mai police, said police could not detain the bus driver and the attendants because there was no evidence or eyewitnesses to prove that they committed the theft.

As if it it isnt obvious enough what happened ......

rule #1  ....    never put cash in any bag .....  keep it with you.

rule#2  ....  if traveling on buses, trains or airplane, always have a padlock on all bags.

Most bags have zips and that makes a padlock useless.
