I would like to find an apartment room for rental for 3 months only in Bangkok for my up and coming trip. Ideally i'd like to pay around 6000 a month and it needs to have aircon.

I fully prepeared to live "off the beaten track" ie.. not near the BTS or MRT. I have particular fondness of Lad Prao and Bang Kapi areas

I will be using it as a base to dump all my stuff - I will stay there a few weeks but i will mostly be traveling around Thailand staying  at different locations.but i will live there in total about 3/4 weeks.

Would appreciate some tips in finding short term rentals like this

Why are you taking so much stuff? It's hot and humid. 2 wife beaters 3 Polo shirts, 2 cargo shorts and a dress jeans.. No underwear
Will easily fit into a back pack and you can buy anything else here

Get a fan place...much to be saved on the electricity bill.

You know the correct areas to look so just rent a cheap guesthouse on arrival then go out and look....take a Thai speaker with you and you will find a place easily.

you will likely have to leave a cash deposit, 6,000 for rent and 6,000 for security.  and it could be tough to get that money back.  maybe others have a different opinion but i don't think many apartment managers give the deposit money back (rent and security) the day you leave.  so you may have to stay at another place to wait and get the money back. and you may never get it back.  so it might be better to assume your 18,000 three month stay will really cost 30,000.  still not a bad deal but just providing a warning of what can happen.

i think you can get a fan only room in bearing area for under 5,000thb.  i know a thai gal that pays 2,200thb/mo in bearing.

No i want a place with aircon because i will be living ther for a few weeks.

I would not want to live amongst those Thai (and others) that are living in extremely cheap accommodation because i think the possibility of crime will go up especially once they learn a farang is living amongst their midst.

Stay where you are - you are an idiot.

I remember your posts about living on 25 satang a day and how you were gonna do it, and now you want aircon.

Seriously, most of the Thais living around you will have far more worth stealing than your 100 Baht T-shirts and 299 Baht rice cooker.

I've noticed a few people living under an overpass near Siam Square, I'm sure if you gave them a few hundred baht they would take care of your stuff. They seem to have clothing hanging on a makeshift washing line, they could more than likely do your laundry as well.

He could always go to Nana Plaza and ask the hookers /lady boys where the closest short time rooms are, who knows if he can find a way to scab a few thousand baht more he could secure a room as long as he doesn't mind sleeping on a mattress drenched in sperm and vaginal fluid

The Thai girl understands that 2,200 gets you a fan only, cold water room, with no windows.

If i wanted to i could afford a 50,000 month condo.. but i completely refuse to expose myself too much financially with regards to "deposits".

I don't want to be another farang clown posting "Help! My landlord won't return my 100,000 baht deposit" on Thaivisa

When in Thailand i live very defensively and minimize risk at every juncture. I'm well aware the whole country is set up to fleece foreigners and we have no defense. I never rent motorbikes or cars. i never take play around with jetskis. I negotiate motorbike taxi fares upfront.. i always insist on taxi meters..

And i will not give hundreds and hundreds of £ to Thai landlords in the hopes i will be seeing it again

Wow So you save enough money bringing beer you bought at 711 into bars and sneaking into hotel pools to afford such a condo? We have read your other threads and you are utterly pathetic.

I think you had better wash go wash your clothes in the sink of your hovel before they would even let you view a 50k a month condo. You wouldn't make it to the elevator in my building with out being challenged.

I've found  a few to consider.. might be of use for other folk..

Decent option studio 62 in list above.

Right next to a 711 it's aprox 1km from bang chak bts and the motorcycle taxi to bts is best option and that's 12 baht.

100 metres down that same road is a good place with a pool called MN Place - run by some very decent people and great English.  A few farang there but most thai. Cost from 4500 upto 11000.

Some decent cheap spots scattered around that locale too but nothing walking distance.

Nonsense, my Thai ex-girlfriend was paying 2,000 in Bangna for a spacious room (fan only) with small kitchenette, separate bathroom with hot water, and a big window with even a small balcony in front. That was about 3 years ago. There are LOTS of single Thais paying 2,000 - 3,000 a month in places like Bangna.
