webfact
Cobra Gold soldiers build memorial building in Chanthaburi CHANTHABURI, 16 February 2017 (NNT) – American, Japanese and Thai navy officers are preparing to hand a multi-purpose building to Ban Chan Khrem in Chanthaburi province as a memorial of their participation in the Cobra Gold military exercise. Governor Witurat Srinam and the chief of Kaokitchakoot district visited Wat Thung Kabin School in Khlong Phlu subditrict where the building’s construction is underway to offer moral support to the soldiers. Erecting a multi-purpose building for a community is a practice among Cobra Gold participants to mark their presence by offering a useful gift to villagers. The military exercise mainly takes place in the provinces of Chonburi and Nakhon Ratchasima. Ban Chan Khrem in Kaokitchakoot district is also a training site for navy officers. The building, named Cobra Gold Building 17, will be handed to the villagers on February 21. -- nnt 2017-02-
