stainless steel cuphooks

Featured Replies

A few months ago i put some boards on the wall in the (outside) kitchen, looks nice and handy to put stuff on.

Also installed a bunch of hooks to hang mugs and other stuff.

They are rusting already and i am getting the heat from the resident domestic engineer, they need to be replaced.

I have not been able to find stainless steel cup hooks over here.

Does any one know where to get them?

Don't recall seeing single SS hooks but I've used plenty of the bronze and they are all holding up well.

I've also put up the kind that have several hooks on a strip.  Those are definitely available in SS and most of the "Home" places should have them.  Make sure it says "Stainless Steel" either in English or Thai.  Many times I ask and get the affirmative head nod but when I ask to show me where it says SS, they go off to find one that does.

You easily can check with a simple magnet if it is stainless steel or only look like that, the cheap stuff are magnetic. Stainless steel are not magnetic, same as aluminum.
I have bought some nice one in the big home shop, for the shower, no rust at all.

Not seen stainless ones, but the bronze coloured ones seem to last ok outside,.

I've also seen plastic-coated ones which would be ideal.

As leyali says, check with a magnet. Fully austenitic stainless steel (such as 304) is non-magnetic.

Look for the 304 stainless steel designation.

HomePro sell some 304 products..

The problem with magnet check is that some of the crap is not magnetic.  If it is SS, it will say SS and if it doesn't, pass it up.

I have bought many made in Thailand VRH stainless steel 304 hooks to hold items in a kitchen, closet and shower. They hold keys, belts, all manner of items. In 10 years the VRH stainless 304 wireware I have bought in Buriram has not rusted a single bit. Even the towel rack installed outside near a salt chlorinated swimming pool. Only 89 more years on the 99 year warranty of this company.   http://vrh.co.th/index.php/en/product?product_id=256&category_id=5&function_id=&serie_id=&per_page=       You will not find this brand at HomePro.  However it is widely available at Global House, Thai Watsadu or selected independent home improvement stores in Thailand.  The trick is getting a motivated VRH "PC" or a store employee to take the time to order any item you want.   I've seen many brands including Hafele need replacements. The VRH water taps, hardware, wireware and stainless steel 304 house numbers I have bought has never failed, both inside and outside my home.
