Computer screen on flat screen TV

Featured Replies

My child would like to use the flat screen TV in her room to display the contents of her screen on her NoteBook (better readability).

My child would prefer to have a wireless Notebook <-> TV Screen connection.
Is there an "easy" way to perform this?

TIA

- Flat screen TV: 3 HDMI port
                              1 VGA port
                              1 USB port
                              1 Ethernet/LAN port

                              1 component video port (video/left/right)
- Computer:         3 USB ports

                              1 HDMI port

                              1 LAN port

                              1 Mic port

                              1 Headphones port

                              Wireless Internet
                              Bluetooth

- TV Box:              Android BOX with Kodi

                              Wireless and Bluetooth.

You just need an hdmi cable from computer to flatscreen.

Select "source" on tv to the appropriate hdmi socket.

How do you select the HDMI cable on the Notebook to show your Notebook screen on the flatscreen?

On the flatscreen you can select the notebook as "Source".
But on the Notebook, there is no way to select the HDMI as screen output.

You shouldnt need to, but if it doesnt come up automatically, go into the screen settings on the computer.

here is an article to walk you through.: http://www.eizo.com/library/basics/external_lcd_with_laptop_computers/

If the TV is on the same network (WIFI or wired) you can also 'cast' directly to TV device if TV supports it. If not you can get device such as Google Chromecast which plugs into HDMI port on TV to connect wirelessly.

The TV does not support Wireless directly, but the Android box (KODI) does support Wireless.
I have setup a network and I can see and play files from every computer/notebook over the network.
But I can not use the Android box to cast the screen on the Notebook.

But on the Notebook, there is no way to select the HDMI as screen output.

There should be; typically you can toggle through the notebook, display, an external display or both.. Maybe via a hot-key, or Fn (Function key). Consult the user's guide for the notebook PC.

What is the make/model of the notebook?

To connect a high-definition TV or monitor to your computer:
1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the computer.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the high-definition TV or monitor.
3. Press f4 to alternate the computer screen image between 4 display states:
● Computer only: View the screen image on the computer only.
● Duplicate: View the screen image simultaneously on both the computer and external
device.
● Extend: View the screen image extended across both the computer and external device.
● External device only: View the screen image on the external device only.
Each time you press f4, the display state changes.

You need an specific app loaded onto your android box for PC screen mirroring. I don't know what this app would be for a PC , but a search for android apps would probably find one.

With Macs  it is very easy as they have an app called Airplay already included in the computer  OS, and even the cheap Lazada Chinese Android boxes like the MXQ Pro come with an app already loaded called AirPlayer (part of the DLNA Player media center) which will mirror the Mac screen wirelessly when you turn on Airplay on your Mac. This is actually not part of Kodi and does not require activating Kodi.

I have an Android box from Lazada, with preinstalled software.
In the "Setting" there is under "Advanced Settings" a "Miracast" entry.
I have used it with my Mobile phone (Android) and it works fine.
But I can not get it to work with my Notebook (Windows 10).
Airplay is required for KODI, but I never tried to mess with that out of fear to lose KODI.

Google Cast (installed on a Windows 10 PC) allows one to cast some apps, or an entire desktop (Chrome, so anything within a browser window; YouTube) to an Android device attached to a TV. I've used this application with my Chromecast, but have never tried it with my Android TV box. You can cast a tab or a desktop. Icon turns blue when casting.

I think Google Cast is built in to Chrome now, where before it may have been an "extension"?

An HDMI cable seems like the simplest solution?

Miracast won't work for a PC because a PC isn't an Android device: Miracast is only to mirror android devices to another device. You need to find a Windows PC Screen Mirror app, if such a thing exists.

Airplay on Kodi is for Macs only- it does not work for Windows PCs.  In any case the Airplay function in Kodi has been broken for all Mac OS X for at least five years, and the Kodi developers have indicated they are not planning to make it functional with the newer Mac OS X versions. It's basically a dead menu item within Kodi.

Op, you said you're running W 10? Then click on the square/rectangle on the right side and click on Project.

Then you've got the opportunity to see both monitors or only the TV screen.

It's also possible that you only get the picture. If so, connect an audio out from your PC to audio in( yellow) on your TV.

P.S. Connect it via HDMI, if it can't see the PC the first time, disconnect and connect it again.

Yep, on a notebook FN plus F 4 and you'll have the choice on the right-hand side.

I managed to make the Notebook display get mirrored on the flat screen by using a HDMI cable.
The error was that when the Notebook upgraded silently to Windows 10, it adapted the Windows 10 drivers instead of he original screen drivers.
The Windows 10 drivers did not offer the "FN + F4" switch mode.

Will try to make it work Wireless (MiraCast or similar) later.
Thanks

Have you checked the support section of the HP web site for your notebook model?  HP might have issued new proprietary drivers which are compatible with Windows 10.  (Or, if they have Windows 8 drivers, but not Windows 10, download those and see if they work.)

I did.
But no Windows 10 drivers for the NoteBook HP1000.
And the scarsely Windows 8/8.1 drivers don't work.
When Microsoft installed Windows 10, the Touchpad was not working anymore.
I tried all possible drivers, but nothing worked.
And the answer from HP Support is to go back to Windows 7.
I have downloaded the screen driver from the AMD website and was lucky to have it work.
