Eastern Economic Corridor

Did anyone else catch the announcement that Provinces Rayong, Chon Buri & Chachengsao are to be able to lease on 50 year terms to foreign companies.

Much of the land in these 3 provinces is Sor Por Kor. There had been a rumour here that Sor Por Kor land will be changed to Chanote.

The assumption is that Sor Por Kor land cannot be rented/sold (ha ha) so in order to be able to legally rent the land, title must have to be changed to chanote?

Anyone got any more info on this?

When they change the national anthem, which says every piece of Thailand is for Thais then you can think about land ownership.

Yeah, I realise that but wifey would be pleased to have chanote land rather than Sor Por Kor. It would make a difference to us as it would give more flexibility as to what we could do here.

Check around and those bits of paper may exist somewhere. Areas that previously were administered by Trat for example but now have their own local office still have a lot of land title papers stored in Trat. When you ask 'do you have the land papers?' the answer you get is 'no'.

You then have to ask 'do you know who has?' the answer might be 'yes they are in the xxxx office'

??
