Medication availability

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm wondering if my medication is available in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I take Brexpiprazole or the other name for it is Rexulti.

Is this available in Chiang Mai or anywhere in Thailand? And how much? I take the 2mg.

Ill be coming sometime in June or July and would like to know if available or if I need to bring a large supply with me if that is possible as well.

This drug is not available in Thailand.

However a closely related drug, aripiprazole, is available - but must be obtained at a hospital.

Youy are allowed to bring in with you up a 30 day supply of medication for personal use provided clearly labelled in a prescription bottle. In practice, people usually get by with bringing in a bit more (i.e. 2-3 months worth) but certainly nto a suitcase full.

It would also be wise to have with you a doctor's letter stating you are on this emdication and giving a brief medical history.  In addition to avoiding potential customs or police issues this will be useful should you need care while here.

Thank you. Sad part is I can not take that other medication at high doses I get jaw tremors. So well see what kind of letter and supply i can get and bring in. I hope to be there for the full 6 months of the visa i am to get so i would need to have atleast 6 months worth. if not im going to talk to my MD and see if i can get off this medication safely.

Max stay would be 90 days without an exit for normal visas to Thailand - so you might plan trip to somewhere you could obtain again.

Thanks again makes sense. now i need to find out the closest location to obtain when i travel.

It is not available anywhere in the region. It is a very, very new drug.

The quality of psychiatric care in Thailand (and most of SE Asia) is poor so if you are going to try to get off a potent pysch med like this, do so a good long while before coming here to be sure you are completely stablized..
