Lo and behold - man who threatened bank employees who came to repossess car is a cop

BANGKOK: -- The man who pulled out a gun to threaten staff of a bank who came to repossess his wife's car turns out to be a cop.

He is Ekachat Somsiri attached to Bang Ken police station's investigation unit.

Last Friday he was caught on tape wielding a gun as he drove off outside his house as terrified bank employees were left standing in

the street, reported Manager.

Ekarat was bare chested without shoes.

The incident happened at the Tawana housing estate in the Sai Mai area of Bangkok late last week.

Now his wife has gone on television with a withering sob story about all the problems she and her husband have faced recently.

And now she has claimed that she was scared by the bank employees - two women and a man - who arrived to take back the Honda Jazz that was two years behind with the payments.

She claimed the employees had not had ID so she phoned her husband who was sleeping upstairs to come down. He thought she was under threat, she said, and so came with his gun.

She didn't know what happened then because he told her to go inside.

But footage posted online clearly showed the policeman brandishing a gun and fleeing in the car in question.

Wife Noppawan Jeera said that the car was in her name. After her mother came to stay and got sick she ran out of money and refinanced the car and didn't pay the instalments, she said on TV as she sobbed.

She didn't tell her husband what she had done until later.

She came up with a story about trying to pay at 7/11 and then the bank but it wouldn't go through and one thing led to another then it was two years, now her and her husband were in this mess and the neighbors won't speak to them and she had to borrow money for her mum's funeral from friends, she went on.

And when they came to repossess I was scared, I was all alone after going out in the car, they had no ID, I felt threatened, I didn't know

what to do, there was no one else about...so I called my husband to come and help, she continued.

She mentioned that she didn't gamble, her husband gives her 1,000 baht every two days, she looks after the two kids. And now she has her husband to worry about.

Manager, who reported the interview from Amarin TV on their "Tang Khon Tang Khit" (different people different views) show, made no mention of what has happened to the policeman husband waving the gun.

Earlier Patcharin Jansiri and Daorung Saithongkham, employees of Krung Thai Auto Lease Co Ltd had filed a police complaint in the matter.

A phony sob story with little content that one can sympathize with. If the car was beyond their financial ability to service the loan, which it obviously was, then  they should have made arrangements with the bank like normal adults ought to do..

Ekachat's willingness to pull a gun on the bank employees who were merely doing their job is another black mark against the gang that call themselves the RTP. BIB (Bullies In Brown)

I very much doubt that the bank staff were not carrying ID, looks like they had folders with the necessary documents to deal with this.

next time send a recovery vehicle and remove the car.

everything moves slowly here ,even repossession a car, 2 years

no repayments, they must have thought they got away with it.

What a heart breaking story.

Oh wait: what a blatant chain of lies and excuses.

Two years pushing aside the fact that she can not pay the installments.

In a state under the rule of law this would have been the last day in service for her husband police man.

Give the poor man a break, he thinks that being a cop gives him license to do whatever he wants.:cheesy:

Bloody disgusting that someone who is paid to uphold the law acts like a bloody hoodlum.

He should be sacked on the spot for threatening behaviour, brandishing a gun without just cause.

I am just surprised they had not sold it

Actually she did to the bank & admitted that she lied to her husband about refinancing the car - No wander he was pissed

& then admitting that she only got 1000 bht for the family every 2 days ( would be all gone ), so there was no way she could of serviced a debt of maybe at least 5000 bht a mth ( 480,000 = 10,000 a mth ) usually the Chinese bank that gives you 80 % of value as stated on insurance papers

Got to laugh, So she felt threatened by the bank employees with no weapons, so husband steps in with a gun & has the upper hand but still has to drive away with the car ( another offence )

Last day in service - but but, he is a upstanding police officer and it's all a big misunderstanding as the bank should have given at least 2 week's notice they were coming allowing the relocation of the car to a safe place.

Agree, and again I ask the question: 'Where is the National Police Chief?' Surely he should be making comments on these recent incidents to try to give some semblance of proper process and his personal professionalism and that of the force. Nothing!

But he had cause, the bank shouldn't have tried to repossess their property.

Bank staff, in particular the women can look very threatening. More than enough reason to pull a gun on them.

Tomorrow the cop will be back on the job looking for another 1000 baht for the wife.

Just the type of role model Thailand needs, to be part of the law enforcement office, setting a fine example to others ! :coffee1:

Not as bad an example as shooting suspects like they do in some countries.

Luckily in many countries they arrest people, even the ones that should be shot on sight.

On a positive note he did not shoot them  to save his face and quick fix the problem.Normally if u only one month behind with finance payments its a big problem wonder how this couple was able to drag it for over 24 months.
